ASRock X58 Extreme LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Nice layout, has all the features of way more expensive board. Can handle up to 24GB ddr3 memory running @2000 in triple channel mode (see other thoughts). Tri-SLI or Crossfire so you don't have to stick to one company of video cards and you can stack up to 3 in this baby. Great BIOS. Easy overclocker. LCD code readout on the board. Right now this is sold out, but if you see it agian for sale again, don't hesitate, buy it.

Cons: No BIOS walk-thru guide in book or on the provided CD. This is very strange cause I have built way cheaper systems and they have had it. The actual book that is provided, the quick installation guide, is just that. Don't be fooled by how thick it is, as the setup section is only 36 pages long and about half of thoughs pages have nothing to do with the setup. All the rest of the book is how to quick install, but in different languages. This could leave someone stranded if this is their first build.(See other thoughts)

Overall Review: This board CAN and DOES run in tripple channel memory mode, newegg only says dual channel in their specifications write up, but this is wrong. Please check the manufactures web page for the real specs of this board before you buy. Also, you should probably print out the setup guide from the Asrock web page for this board as it contains everything that is missing from the provided book (ie BIOS walk thru), this does not tell you how to set it up but it gives you the tools you will need to do the setup (unless you have built alot of computers, then forget what I have said.) Even with the few minor cons, this is a great board and great quality. I will recommend this to anyone who wants a great x58 board for a great price, don't believe me, compare other x58 board specs to this ones and you will be happy. Pros: Good feature set, awesome price, generally solid design. Crossfire and SLI compatible. Clocks my i7 920 to 4.0 ghz. I love that my SATA ports are not made inaccessible by a video card. Also, though the board can accept a 24-pin and an 8-pin 12v connector, this MoBo WILL powerup off a 20-pin and 4 pin connection. Love the error LCD feature in the bottom right corner of the board as well. In the even something goes wrong, that feature makes it easy to resolve the issue without taking apart the board piece by piece.

Cons: Could use more fan pinouts. I only took a cursory look, but I did not see many. The board's 20/24-pin connection port is also located a bit high - I really had to tug to get my PSU cable to reach it. I thought I might damage the wire.

Overall Review: Great board. I have only minor complaints. Otherwise, I am singing this thing's praises. I haven't been so satisfied since I got my ASUS P5B-E years ago to replace a malfunctioning MSI board. And for the price on an x58? Can't be beat. It sells out every time it comes in for a reason.

Pros: The power button on the board was nice while I was getting the really basic hardware setup. Works. OC'ing seems fairly straitforward. This is my first self-build, but to me it looks decent. I've got the stock CPU cooler, so I'm not over-clocking too hard right now. The sinks on the bridges are ice cold, though. Price just can't be beat.

Cons: The auto-settings don't seem to work terribly well. I'd go 4.5 eggs if I could for that, but won't lose any sleep over giving it 5.

Overall Review: Dirt cheap, worked on the first try. I had to read up a bit on OCing Corei7's, then it was plenty easy to go in and get the settings I wanted. I got the entire system running well in Win7, then started actually looking at getting driver disks, bios updates, and the like.

Pros: Easy setup, great mobo for the price. Worked the very first time I turned it on and windows 7 was able to install all the drivers with no problems.

Cons: It won't make breakfast for you ;)

Overall Review: I was a bit worried because the newegg specs say the memory is "dual channel" but it really is triple channel! Also my second ASRock board (first one I've had since 2004) and I'm hoping it lasts just as long.

Cons: reads any ram to be 1066. Check other thoughts for solution. Please do not use the auto CPU OC feature if u do not have a good CPU cooler. (Auto setting really increases the volts pretty high).

Overall Review: If ur ram is running more than 1066, u need to mannually OC ur ram setting to get the actual speed. Just go to bios and mauually select 1333 if ur ram is DDR3 1333, or 1600 if ur ram is rated at 1600. Note u can still OC 1333 to 1600, and 1600 to greater frequency. MOBO only detects all DDR3 ram at 1066, but u know the actual speed of ur ram. U can also change the Latency settings too. U can getting the latency info from the RAM system specification tab on new egg, or from ur vendor.

Pros: Great price of an x58 MB. Not a porsche, so keep things in perspective and do yer research. I haven't had any issues with this board. I've been using it for over a month now. No problems with the on board Realtek LAN adapter. I started with a clean install of Win7 Ultimate and everthing is working as designed. Many options in the BIOS to get that Core i7 920 at full potential. Currently, I'm running a Core i7 920 @ 3.2 GHz with a KingWin aftermarket heatsink and fan. Temps are around 41c idle and 61c load. I had problems initially with OCZ memory, but switched to G.Skill and now everything is smooth as butter. MB temps are a little high, but I perfer a quite case and don't like a lot of fan noise. I can live with that. No much gaming here, just ripping video and media from time to time. asROCK ON!

Cons: None as of yet. Subject to change without notice :) This board seems to be picky about memory. Might want to verify approved memory on ASROCK web site or take a chance like I did intially.

Pros: This is just a follow up to my previous review. I was able to resolve the issues with my esata drive. In BIOS 1.40 there is a setting for eSATA power management. By default that setting is "enabled". I disabled the eSATA power link management and also disabled HDD power down from the Win7 advanced power management tool. After these two changes the eSATA drive works without complication. Previously it had been freezing up whenever the computer went into standy. On the matter of Intel Speed Step...... By using the "Balanced" power setting in Win7 power management options Intel Speed Step now works just fine. If power management is set to "always on" cpu throttling doesn't work. I have revised my review and product rating accordingly. Great board at a great price and I highly recommend.

Pros: What can you say I think Tom's called this one right, good quality and a lot of features for the price.

Cons: Didn't like the placement of the 8pin power if you mount this board in a case with a bottom mount power supply the cable from most power supplys isn't long enough to reroute it so it goes right over your pci cards and around the corner of your cpu fan still workable though but much easier with a top mounted psu

Overall Review: Been building computers for more than 15 years usually use one of my trusted board makers, was a bit cautious when ordering because of posts of DOA boards and low quality, but decided to trust THG and the reviews on this board and I'm glad I did wonderful board and great quality.
