Will this work with FreeNAS ?

I have two FreeNAS builds using this mobo without any issue. The chipsets are detected, but I am not using the onboard controllers. I needed 20 ports, so I added a LSI 9207-4i4e and Intel Twenty-four port SAS expander RES2SV240. FreeNAS thrives on HBA solutions (ZFS), so if you don't need more than 8 SATA (no SAS) ports, I don't think you'll have a problem from mixing controller usage. I cannot, however, comment on if the controller support is rock solid but I would guess it is since FreeNAS is backed by FreeBSD. The software RAID functions will NOT work in FreeNAS. I did test that much, trying to have FreeNAS boot from a software RAID of two SSDs. It booted from one and listed the other as an available storage device.
