Cons: no cons, only a wishlist: - WISH there were 4xDDR4 slots - WISH there were just a few more SATA ports but hey, it's a mini-itx and they already crammed everything you really need onto the board

Overall Review: i built a portable minibeast around this board. i wanted a machine that i could use for any purpose: gaming, hosting VMs, and media. i already had separate machines for each of those but wanted to see if i could make one machine for everything. i used top quality parts throughout, and had ZERO compatibility issues everything worked first time, and has worked with no issues in the month i've been running the machine. If you're interested in using 32GB RAM, the max supported on this board, there are some issues. because DDR4 is quad-channel, the RAM makers are selling non-ECC (consumer) RAM only in packages of 4 sticks. (hopefully that has changed by the time you read this.) the only package i could find of 2x16GB sticks was ECC RAM. to use ECC RAM, you have to have a server-class CPU. so i ended up with a xeon e5-1650v3 rather than the i7-5820K just for the ECC RAM support. here are the parts i used: - CPU: Intel Xeon E5-1650 v3 (6x3.5GHz cores) [N82E16819117499] - Case: Lian Li PC-TU200B [N82E16811112348] - Case fan: Noctua NF-A14 iPPC-3000 [N82E16835608048] - PSU: SeaSonic S12G S12G-650 [N82E16817151137] - RAM: Crucial CT2K16G4RFD4213 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM ECC DDR4 2133 (PC4-17000) [N82E16820148840] - SSD: Corsair Force LS CSSD-F960GBLSB 960GB [N82E16820233781] - CPU cooler: dynatron r24 60mm (it comes with the board) [N82E16835114134] this is in fact a very good cooler and in many builds will be your best choice. it has a 60mm fan. if you have height clearance for one the larger dynatron coolers that fits narrow ILM (they have others with 80 and 92mm fans), i would recommend it for less noise - HDs: 2x TOSHIBA PH3400U-1I72 4TB 7200 RPM (with room for 2 more) - BD: ASUS BC-12B1ST/BLK/B/AS [N82E16827135247] - M.2 drive: SAMSUNG SM951 M.2 256GB [N82E16820147425] (you should GET THIS drive with this board! direct connection to pciex2 is faster than sata3! this drive is AHCI, and if you can get an NVMe one, it should be even faster) - VGA: MSI GTX 780Ti GAMING [N82E16814127770]

Pros: x99 platform in an Mini-ITX form factor opens up so many possibilities. It seems stable, Unlike other ITX boards, it has a CPU Fan header and two Sys fan headers.

Cons: Only supports two memory modules, but tests have shown that this has little impact in real world applications. The CPU Socket is a Narrow ILM socket. It won't fit all coolers, however, I found that the bracket that is supplied with the board works with the Corsair H100i with a bit of creativity. The way the wifi card and antennas mount is a bit janky.

Overall Review: Make sure you are using an adequate power supply. My 600w SFX PSU was not able to power a 5960x on this board.

Pros: The only 2011-v3 Mini ITX motherboard. Allows you to build a very powerful yet portable system. USB 3.1

Cons: The bundled CPU cooler isn't quite good enough in my experience. My 5820K idles at around 45C. One design flaw I have found so far is there is a fan connector right behind the PCI-E slot. When I had a fan connected to it my video card could not be seated all the way. So this fan connection is useless for me.

Pros: Allows you to build a high end workstation build in a small form factor case.

Cons: Never really worked quite right (bsod's, freezes). I used it for less than a year. It finally got to the point where it would lock up a few seconds after entering Windows. Tested with new known-working EVERYTHING (multiple CPU's, memory, PSU's, Video Cards, SSD's) and couldn't solve the issue. Temperatures were all fine. Ended up RMA'ing it and the replacement gave me the exact same issues. I contacted Asrock about the second one but they ignored me and never responded to my emails. At that point I just gave up on it, purchased a different brand ATX board and moved all the components to it. I guess they are just trying to get too much onto a small board.

Overall Review: The only other thing that kind of annoyed me was a fan header directly next to the PCI-E slot which made it difficult to seat a video card without putting extra stress on the fan header and wires.

Pros: It's a stellar board, especially considering the price. You get dual Intel NICs, WiFi/ac + BlueTooth, an M.2 slot with NVMe support, and a ton of SATA connectors.

Cons: My board shipped with BIOS version 1.20. According to ASRock's site, this version added DRAM compatibility. Unfortunately, while my 8GB Corsair LPX DIMMs worked great, the board would not post with their 16GB brothers until I updated to the latest BIOS (3.10). Keep this in mind if you want to run 16GB DIMMs.

Overall Review: If you want to run a liquid cooler, get an Asetek-based one (Corsair AIOs are good examples) because Asetek sells a $5 bracket that will let you use it on this board.

Pros: This is a real niche product, If you've already decided on an i7-5820k and don't have a lot of space on your desk, then this is the only board for you. As a mainboard, it performs at least as well as any other I've used.

Cons: Now that storage and RAM manufacturers have caught up, there really aren't any cons. All the fast parts that this board supports are widely available.

Overall Review: For overclocking and really taking advantage of the X99 features, cooling is going to be the biggest issue. Using a small itx case makes it even worse. I was willing to be a little creative with a custom water loop in order to build a very small, unique rig. On the stock clocks my 5820 gains a whole 9 degrees C above idle during stress testing. It can be done, it's just... tedious. To my knowledge, EK is the only company that has a proper narrow-ILM mounting plate. I can also confirm that the Cooler Master Seidon 120V works perfectly with the included bracket if overclocking isn't your scene.

Pros: I had no issues with this board, it also overclocks really well, I easily pushed my 5820k to 4.2ghz, I'll need some better cooling to go higher. The size factor by no means hiders the OCing performance.

Cons: The heatsink it comes with is pretty bad, but it'll work just fine if you aren't OCing, but the Idle temps will be high. I replaced it with a h105 using the waterblock the board comes with.

Pros: -Small ITX form factor -Wifi -X99 chip -USB 3.1 -Two NICs -I can run multiple virtual machines and edit high resolution video with this powerful Intel platform inside a tiny case. -Video games run very smoothly. -Virtual reality works like a charm. -Very stable -There is now a bios update to properly use Broadwell-E

Cons: -Stock CPU cooler is terrible. A company called Asetek makes brackets for Narrow ILM that will attach Corsair coolers to this board. -Wifi chip is cheap, doesn't work on linux. -Hard to build a computer this small

Overall Review: I love this board and I would recommend to experienced PC builders. A little regretful of my old review, now that I have enjoyed this board for several months.
