ASRock Fatal1ty X99 Professional MB 5/15/2018 7:53:07 PM

Pros: None.

Cons: The MB was faulty, wouldn't boot, tested all components on a functional ASUS and MSI X99 MBs and all components worked. Reset Bios on MB and removed battery still no joy. Different tested and functional power source etc. This MBs Dr Debug didn't even turn on. All fans and video card LEDs lit up. Emailed ASRock on May 3rd with issue questions and now on May 15, 2018 still have no response. I will now try and RMA the MB. I'm not optimistic with getting a favorable ASRock response. I may have to fall back on a reliable ASUS or MSI MB. ugh

Overall Review: At this point I could not recommend this MB. However, if repaired under RMA, and it works and tests well in comparison with my MSI Godlike Gaming Carbon X99A and ASUS Rog Strix X99 Gaming MBs I will update and revise this. If not, I will update in a more negative way, I expect.

Purchased on Dec of 2016 Great mobo while it lasted... 5/10/2018 5:05:38 AM

Pros: Overclocking is easy with little issues. (I7-6850K)
Bios are OK
Has dual bios which is very nice
Dual band wifi made my wifi connection stronger and more stable (cant get ethernet to my room so it was very nice)

Cons: Bios are a bit finicky (thats why its OK)
I would have to agree that the fan headers are hard to see and are in positions that aren't the greatest for me...
other than that this mobo powered through anything I threw at it

Overall Review: It was a great mobo for the time that it lasted. Some issues were probably caused by having a CX series corsair PSU along side this thing...
My PSU has been slowly killing this thing and I didnt realize it until my USB ports would randomly drop power. Its the back usbs ports that do this the most.

I had to get a new PSU to get rid of some of the issues. Which I think it was just because the mobo could not get enough power from the last PSU.

Make sure you do get a good PSU! Avoid corsairs! I didn't and now I regret not getting the warranty

Awful 1/6/2018 10:53:38 AM

Pros: - Full of features
- Fits well with my build

Cons: - First board never posted and I determined that it was this motherboard.
- Second board posted once ever 45-100 restarts, making it impossible to install any drivers or updates.
- Fan header positions are awful.

Overall Review: - No, I would not recommend this product to anyone.
- Got Asus Motherboard and it worked without any problems.

Another great board by AsRock 10/25/2017 4:17:11 AM

Pros: -Color scheme blended well with my theme.

-Easy to setup and navigate UEFI BIOS

-Has overclocking potential and features in Advanced setting (F6)

-Runs great with my Xeon E5-2620 v4 Octa core CPU.
"-Reinforced" PCI slots was a nice touch. Always screw in your cards onto the case though.

-Intel logo on the I/O shroud was interesting

-Dual onboard NIC was a nice addon

-Dual M.2 slots was great. Had to reference it because it does share a SATA port.

Cons: -As what others cried about, the lettering for the connectors on the board can hardly be seen. However if you have experience, you can identify it visually or refer to the motherboard manual.

-AsRock and other Motherboard manufactures likes to add Bloatware software to the Driver disc. I cannot comment how good they are. I will look into them one day but I never install them.

I have had a faulty motherboard from AsRock.Luckily it didn't take my CPU nor GPU and my SSD/HDD's. Giving them another try because it caused some inconvenience.

-The poor grammar. AsRock, I was hoping as a mass manufacturer that you hire someone with fluent English to write your manuals. But as a end user I hardly had to reference it anyways but I hope in the future that will change.

Overall Review: Good bargain for the price. I have not had any issues yet after setup. Ordering online is a gamble. Normally I would go to my local MC to purchase but I will take this gamble. Don't let me down AsRock.

Update 10/25/17 - To test AsRock support, I made a recent problem where the CPU frequency under heavy loads was not reaching its maximum. I would like to thank John from AsRock support for the assistance and timely response (approx 1-2 hours per email. But a day for the initial email.). Superb support and fast response within the day.

ASRock SOLID 10/5/2017 2:31:04 PM

Pros: The technology is up to date and solid.
The board takes what you give it and doesn't hiccup or look back.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Would I recommend this product? Yes.
Would I change anything? Extend the rebate period for those who forget to mail within 30 days. But, that's a me problem. This board rocks.

• Looks nice and sleek with good construction and components.

• Great feature-set. Technically one of the best i7 boards out there if it works out for you.

Cons: • Creative Audio is more annoying and poorly done than anything else. The software creates echos with its default settings. I just disabled it entirely because it's so poorly designed.

• BIOS is maddeningly stupid to set up. The worst UEFI Bios I've used so far and it loves to drop fan profiles if you changed virtually any other setting after setting the fans up.

• For whatever reason that neither I nor ASRock have been able to figure out, this board - often randomly - takes an inordinate amount of time to POST. Anywhere from 2 to 35 seconds. I've replaced and removed drives, done every configuration under the sun and it always randomly posts. Average time is 10 seconds but still far too unacceptable when using a M.2 drive and cheaper motherboards post nearly instantly once set up.

• ASRock's customer service has definitely slipped. Inconsistent, often rude answers that are equally uninformed and pointless. You can message them from the UEFI BIOS, which also sends all your hardware and configuration information, (Which I absolutely love) but this form of communication takes the longest to get a response from and then it's discourteous and unhelpful.

• Motherboard markings are extremely hard to read; which I suppose was done to make the board look nicer once installed and done, but for the first-time setup and poor documentation it can be a trying initial setup.

• My board only came with 1 antenna for the wi-fi. Asrock doesn't offer support in this way so in order to get the other antenna I would have to RMA the entire board back to Newegg. Pretty ridiculous and few companies treat their customers this way these days.

• ASRock's website is rather annoying to explore and get drivers for, at least with this motherboard.

• ASRock's rebate program will be the second worst I've dealt with if they actually give me my rebate, or the absolute worst if they don't follow through. They've had my claim in "processing" for 3 months now. Typical waiting period for rebates from trusted companies take 1 month to process and maybe 2-4 weeks to send the rebate. Given how poorly ASRock's customer service has treated me, I am not holding out hope for their rebate program to work much better.

Overall Review: I've used ASRock quite a few times now in builds for myself and others. I used to see them beat ASUS and others in customer service and user experience quality. But this has been one of the worst motherboard experiences I've had and it destroyed the trust I used to have in ASRock due to their now poor customer service.

The board itself is fairly competent -once set up-, outside of UEFI BIOS quirks and the POSTing issue, but the customer service combined with the rebate program have left me fairly annoyed. ASRock used to provide a great bargain with great hardware and adequate CSRs. Now, you pay a premium and get less in every category. I simply cannot recommend this board or ASRock anymore.

Build Specs:
ASRock Fatal1ty X99 Professional Gaming i7 motherboard
Intel i7 6800K 3.4GHz processor
Corsair - Vengeance 32GB PC4-21300 DDR4 memory
ZOTAC GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme graphics card
Plextor M8Pe M.2 2280 512GB NVMe SSD
CORSAIR RMx Series RM850X 850W 80 PLUS GOLD power supply

ASRock is absolutely abysmal in customer service. They offer very little quality customer service and their RMA process is a nightmare. Avoid this lazy company that refuses to properly support what they sell.

As for what went wrong, basically everything. First the board lost USB and then ethernet and the plague spread from there. No power surge. No damaged components. Reset the bios, reinstalled windows. Same issues. Put literally everything that was plugged into this motherboard into a ASUS and everything works. No problem and no ridiculously long POST.

ASRock is useless. They continue to charge more for their products while giving less back in customer service. If you need to pay a premium, go elsewhere. These people don't deserve business.
