Waste of Money, Poor Quality, Low Reliability

Pros: Cheap
Supports 9th Gen Intel
Neutral Color Scheme

Cons: Cheap
Thin and flexible PCB
Low Quality Components
Breaks if you look at it wrong
Low reliability

Overall Review: I bought this motherboard in Feb 2019 as part of a bundle deal and got it for a great price. It lasted less than 45 days before it one day without warning just suddenly shut off and never powered on again. I tried all of the troubleshooting steps I could and was not able to get it to turn back on. There was no physical damage and I had never overclocked with it and used only quality parts like an EVGA 80 Plus Gold PSU and Teamgroup memory.

ASRock customer support gave me no hassle and approved my RMA quickly. I had to pay out of pocket to ship it to them and then they used the absolute cheapest FedEx Smart Post to send it back at a snail's pace. I was without a motherboard for 3 weeks total.

The replacement board worked well enough for about 90 more days before it decided it had enough and stopped working in the same fashion as the first one. I tried the same troubleshooting steps and nothing would bring it back to life.

I've checked my setup including wall outlets and wiring, I made sure none of the cables in my case were causing issues and I even checked all of my other components in another motherboard and everything was fine. The quality of these motherboards is just total garbage and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone who wants their machines to work for any length of time.

I've been building computers for nearly 10 years and I have never had issues this severe with any other motherboards or components. I don't trust that the 2nd replacement ASRock is going to send me is actually going to work and I will probably sell it to try to recoup the money I spent on this trash.

I will never buy from ASRock again.

P.S. This is the second attempt I've made to post this review as the first one was "mysteriously" never posted. I tried to be a little more thorough and diplomatic with my review this time as I am still livid that this thing has died on me twice now...

Dear ASRock Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. ASRock mainboards are fully tested to assure that they're working before shipped. Unfortunately, due to nature of electronic product, it can happen. As always, we glad to answer any technical questions that you’ve concerned before mainboard has returned. 2 month review

Cons: My ONLY complaint is the CPU socket is a little to close to the ram slots, using a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO with 2 fans means you lose the first ram slot. Luckily the board was smart enough to use a2 slot as the primary and still provide dual channel.

Overall Review: Decent features for the price. Got exactly what I was expecting and is trucking on fine after a few months of heavy usage.

So far, so good

Pros: Running about a month no issues yet. Easy to update bios on (3 options). Plenty good for light gaming and other uses.
It'd been 15 years since I built my last personal pc with ddr2 ram. I was overdue. My how time has changed... and gotten so much easier. Build went great with no issues.

Cons: Wish it had more fan port options (3 pin power).
Rather odd placement of M.2 ports, under the graphics card (heat?)
Unsure about the placement of some of these SATA ports, but it'll do for the price I got it for.

Overall Review: Yes, very pleased. Would recommend for a midrange gaming pc.
Been a Newegg loyal customer for too many years. Great as usual. No issues with shipping either. Thank you Newegg!

Love it

Pros: BIOS is great for overclocking and the whole board is rock solid. The sound is better than my previous motherboards and I really cant complain about anything at all!

Cons: I have read you dont want to put the 8 core processors in this board due to heat issues especially with overclocking but it does fantastic with the i5-9600k overclocked!

Mediocre Cooling, Cheap, Decent Features, OK Bios, Good RGB software

Pros: -Easy to set up
-Enough options/features
-Cheap
-RGB software worked well with my case despite it not being officially supported
-Easy XMP profile

Cons: -VRMs did not keep CPU as cool as I'd like (35-40 C idle , 75-80c under load- with a high quality cooler and a LOT of tweaking)
-Does not include WiFi or BT (known when I purchased, but still a negative)
-Bios was easy to navigate but there were quite a few bugs/annoyances that I found throughout
-SATA plug-in location was odd

Overall Review: Worked well for awhile then started getting random errors on boot up (e.g. B4, A2 - which I did troubleshoot without any answer). Had to take a full weekend to figure it out and finally determined that it was the motherboard. I feel like I would have rather just spent more money for a better motherboard than to cheap out and get this one and waste my time. Wasn't particularly good besides the cost. If you're looking for a budget build (e.g. 9400f+this board on sale as a combo) without overclocking and don't mind troubleshooting this might be the board for you. At the end of the day if you value your time over the $50-100 or so you save versus a high quality Z390 board (e.g. Asrock Taichi or similar) I'd just go with that to save the hassle. I tried to cheap out because this motherboard seemed decent for the price and was a great deal when combined with my CPU but really taught me a lesson that you get what you pay for.

Great Motherboard for the Price

Pros: -Good quality build
-Sleek look
-Mounts well
-Simple BIOS

Cons: -ASRock cheaped out and left an open slot for the Wi-Fi antenna. They essentially just removed the antenna and placed a metal plug in place
-Adding a soundcard, along with everything else was a bit of a tight fit. Ended up actually being very snug with the case shroud. May not be an issue for all (depending on your case), but could not mount it higher due to the board layout
