I put in the motherboard. I tried to boot computer. Failed. It starts I get a instant flash of blue screen before it goes into repair. I enter a windows 7 disk, boot from the disk...exact problem. I'm not sure if te motherboard is bad or not. What are the steps for me to enable this to work?

This motherboard is loaded with industrial level features at the BIOS level. For example, running a VOIP Asterisk server I ran into a problem with audio recording that I finally solved by turning off all the unique timing references in the BIOS. I suggest you turn off everything in BIOS first, and if you successfully boot, then turn them on, one-by-one, to determine the conflict.

Which processors support the graphics? In other words, which processors are required to make the VGA and HDMI ports work? Thanks

The SuperMicro X9SAE-V has an LGA 1155 socket and Intel C216 chipset. This supports the embedded graphics on variants of the Intel Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge architectures - these include some of the Intel i3, i5, and i7 processors and some of the Intel Xeon E3 processors. This board supports ECC memory with the Xeon processors. Look at the wikipedia charts for Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge; The tables will show a GPU clock rate for the variants with on-board GPU. The newegg storefront has options to filter the CPUs listed to Intel LGA 1155 with integrated graphics.

I needed to know if I have to get a power supply with both 8 pin power connector and a 4 pin connector or is that just an option to use either 8 pin or 4 pin?

There are 3 power ports on this board 24, 8, and 4. The 24 is the main power the 8 is the EPS 12v and the 4 is an aux. The 4 aux is optional the other 2 are required. This is not one of those boards that can go either way on the EPS 12v 8 pin connection. The board will have problems if the full 8 pin is not used.

This item is categorized under Server motherboards but described in the heading as Desktop. Which is it?

It is a Server or Work Station motherboard. It's a great board but also note that you must have a stand alone graphics card as it does not have integrated graphics. One really nice feature of the board is the USB3.0 front header connection which is rare on Server motherboards. I have used this board on several server builds with great success.
