kindly recommend a few chassis ( pedistal ) for this board?

I had bought this board on July 6, 2015. I used a SC745TQ-920B chassis. The chassis comes with an air duct so passive coolers SNK-P0048P work well with this. I don't have the front panel indicators and USB ports working. I have been trying to resolve the front panel  issues with supermicro support, but have not gotten far. The front panel connection for the chassis did not match the motherboard for PWR LED.

Perhaps the complete set "SUPERMICRO SYS-7048R-C1R4+" is a better choice. Note that this board only can be installed in a Supermicro chassis that is listed on their website for this board. The mounting hole locations are different than extended PC motherboards.

I love the motherboard and chassis other than the problem described above.

Question 2

Does this board support the v4 versions of the E5 2600 xeons? I know it says it can, with BIOS v2.0, but I do not want to buy this motherboard only to find out I need a processor I don't have to do the BIOS update. Additionally if this motherboard will not support V4 xeons out of the box is there a method to do a BIOS update without a processor installed?

I went back to my order history, and discovered that I had looked at the wrong processor order.  The E5-1650 processors do NOT support dual processors.  I have E5-2650s installed in my X10DRC system.

Robert, you may want to research a little deeper on your intended processors, and whether they support Dual Processor configurations. As I recall only the E5-2650 processors do. (That may have since changed, but I believe that the only reliable source on that would be Intel's specifications for the processor.) On this motherboard one PCI socket is controlled by processor 1 (the only processor that you can use with a single processor installed). The remaining PCI sockets are controlled by the second processor in the system.

BIOS update would require a processor capable of booting. That would be a small price to pay for this luxury motherboard, though.

Question 3

Will this motherboard support  Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 Haswell-EP 2.4GHz LGA 2011-3 85W Server Processors?  The socket shows as LGA 2011 but supported processors show the -v3.

I am using the E5-2630 V3 in both sockets. Hardware monitor shows about 66-70W dissipation each with 100% utilization by running simulations. CPU1 temp is 55C and CPU2 temp is 61C with the passive coolers. I populated 32 GB for each processor. I am using Win 8.1 for this.
