Question 1

I'm trying to figure out what RAM will work with this motherboard. Looking at this...www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820242335&ignorebbr=1 Will it work?

You "should" use the RAM listed in the QVL by Supermicro.  I can't say if the RAM you referenced will work.  I purchased Samsung RAM Model M391A2K43BB1-CPB (not on the QVL but only because it's lesser brother 8GB stick was tested, not the 16GB stick) which is the capacity you are looking for.  And internet search will provide you a listing of places you can buy the RAM from but pay attention to the part number, sometimes an internet search will give you a result that is close but here close is not good.

Question 2

I installed 2 sticks 8 GB ECC Unbuff RAM in B2 and A2. My board does not detect memory in DIMMB2. If I swap the sticks same thing - only detects A2. Bad Board again? I already got 1 exchanged for same reason from Newegg. Any idea?

OK, Turns out that the MOBO and Memory are fine. Issue was due to a PCIe RAID card (Dell H330). The card apprantly uses SMBus in a non standard way. So the "hack" is to cover the B5 and B6 pins on the RAID Card.Google for sas-hba-crossflashing-or-flashing-to-it-mode and see the wordpress site by techmattr. After doing this, reboot, and it works correctly

Yes, you can. I've been running VmWare ESXi on that exact combo (with 4x16G ECC RAM) since October 2016 without any issues.

Does this board have hardware RAID integrated? Looking to use this for RAID and want to know if I need to buy a separate RAID card.

Yes it does, but only for SATA drives. It has an Intel C236 Controller which supports RAID 0,1,5 and 10. Below is the link for full specs.

Question 5

Can i have a RAID1E configuration using this motherboard without purchasing  a RAID controller? Does this support RAID out of the box?

The SUPERMICRO MBD-X11SSM-F-O has an on-board integrated Intel PCH RSTe SATA RAID controller which supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 out of the box. There's no mention of RAID 1e and there's no need to purchase a RAID controller.

Question 6

Does this board support non-ECC DIMMs, or is it ECC only?   This is the base for a home lab and is not mission critical, so trying to save a few bucks if I can. :)

I believe it does support Non-ECC RAM however I have not been able to locate that in documentation.  I would however recommend that you install ECC RAM or purchase a different motherboard that doesn't require ECC RAM for your project, which will also save you money.  Additionally this motherboard will likely require two firmware updates, the BIOS and IPMI.  This is not an issue for people who this product is targeted at.

Will a kaby lake work with this motherboard, and if so will I have to update the bios with a skylake or will the bios be updated?

As you may be aware, there is a BIOS upgrade which recently came out a few weeks ago and I suspect that a kaby will work fine without the update, but with that said, I'd contact Supermicro before purchasing the ensure this.  Here is the data from the BIOS update:

does this board has compatibility with E3-1235 3.2Ghz Quad core xeon no version, and ddr3 1333mhz ecc cl9 1.5v timing 9-9-9 240 pin?

No, it uses DDR4 Unbuffered ECC RAM first off, and requires a LGA 1151 CPU, which is Xeon E3-12xx V5 or 6th gen core i3, Celeron, and Pentium.  Find out what socket your chip uses, and filter the motherboards from there.  You should read the product descriptions before considering a product, this information is in the first 3 bullet points of the Overview on the product page.

On Supermicro's site they list X11SSM-F, but this one is MBD-X11SSM-F-O , What is the -O represent?  Is it the same or different than what I find on Supermicro's site?

I think it's just to distinguish between the retail packaging and bulk packaging.  They inconsistently list both part numbers on the manufacturer's site (SKUs, reference:  look up the X10DAi  on the SuperMicro site).  In this case, there doesn't appear to be a "dash O" for this board at SuperMicro, and in the Newegg description it states that it's actually a "dash B" (Bulk).  This is probably a fairly inconsequential mistake by Newegg.

I am wanting to run AI and use the GPUs VRam for processing power not generating graphics.
