Short answer: Yes, any PSU with the required PCI-X power dongle will be able to power this.

However, if you're going to invest the money in getting a high-end video card like this one, it would do you good to do some research into precisely how much your peak power consumption will be and try to shoot for the "sweet spot" of 55-60% usage on your PSU.

That depends. If you are like most gamers using 1080p monitors from 60htz to 144htz this card is amazing. Im still currently using this in my rig, and for example, bf4 at ultra im hitting about 120fps+ solid. The 980s are beasts. The only thing that will out match it, is the titan x and 980ti. However as i said if your doing 1080p this is over kill. if you are looking into 4k. sorry to say not alot can do 4k. it takes about 3 of these. 1 titan x and possibly 1 or 2 980ti's.

I believe all of the ports can display that resolution.  The Display Port seems to be the main port for 4k and Higher refresh rates.  I currently use the Display Port set at 4k at 60hz.  My monitor is the Asus PB287Q with Display Port 1.2.

Hi i am lacking on Knowledge of a display port. I run 3 monitors which on my current card are hooked up via hdmi dvi-i and dvi-d.

This card shows only 1 hdmi and 1 dvi-i with 3 display ports..

My question is using a display port can i run games on it (eve online/World of tanks ) or are they built for just things like browsers ect?

Displayport is just a higher bandwidth connection. It supports resolutions up to 4K at 60HZ whereas HDMI is only now catching up to that. You can get adapter cables for your monitors to run DP to HDMI and DP to DVI. There's no such thing as a video connection just for browsing the web.

PSU brand doesn't matter. Make sure it has enough cables and power. This PSU is more than enough.in terms of power. Should have enough ports too.

Yes, this will run on direct x 12.  From the NVIDIA Blog: NVIDIA will support the DX12 API on all the DX11-class GPUs it has shipped; these belong to the Fermi, Kepler and Maxwell architectural families.

Just make sure you're aware directx12 will only work on Windows 10.  I would link the proof of these claims with URL's but Newegg doesn't allow it.  Just search directx12 compatible OS.

There's also a nice benchmark of the 980 comparing DX11 and DX12; for Star Swarm the FPS is 66.8 in DX12 and 26.7 in DX11.

The motherboard is really irrelevant provided it has the applicable PCIe slot (yours does). The main factor will be the length of the card. Without knowing what chassis you are actually using it is impossible to provide a precise answer. That being said, this card is not terribly long and would likely make it in to most mid-size ATX cases so a larger tower or full tower should be a non-issue for you.

If you want to know for certain crack out a tape measure (or like device) and measure the span from the back of your case to the first obstacle towards the front (likely a HDD cage). Compare that to the length in the specs and you will be good to go.

This card has 5 connector for video monitors.  How many can be used at once?  Can I have 5 monitors all running at the same time?

I cannot confirm 5. I do not see why not. My single strix is doing 3 monitors at once and I can even push it into surround with a single card connected with one DVI, one HDMI, and one DVI plugged into an "Active" dvi to Display adapter. That being said, when I researched if it would be possible to push 3 monitors (I have the Asus VS239H-P 23 inch 1920x1080 monitors) into surround I saw people mentioning that it would require specific active adapters that could support the resolution of the monitors in question. I could have just lucked out and actually have the correct adapter which is why this is working but I assure you if I do it is by sheer luck. I would say that if you do a straight monitor to Display connection, no fancy adapters, you could probably push all three without breaking a sweat, and if you furthermore go with an HDMI, you could probably even push 4. What I am uncertain about is the DVI in the mix. I don't know if any of this helps but I hope it does.
