This the  true 4GB geforce gtx 970 card or the 3.5GB available gtx 970 card?

If you are a hard core gamer then stick with the GTX-980 for slightly higher frame rates and resolution.  The GTX-970 has 4.0GB of RAM, with the first partition being 3.5GB of VRAM and a second 500MB of VRAM.  Bandwidth drops dramatically when accessing the last 500MB.  I'm running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Linux) and don't see any issues.  I purchased this card because of price, great performance for my application and it exhausts the hot air out the back of the case rather recirculating hot air within the case.  (There is a very technical explanation written by PC Gamer why the GTX-970 slows down.) I hope this helps you out.

Question 2

I'm afraid this card will run hotter since it's a different cooler.  What is your case and how are your temperatures at idle and under load (such as when gaming)?

I have an unusually small case, the Asrock M8.  Temps aren't good in it and I originally bought an MSI R9 270x with an open air cooler and temps were ok, maybe a little too warm for my tastes.  I was idling around the 30-35C mark and under load (gaming) I would see a peak of around 75-80C.  I then bought the Turbo 970 and it idles around 30-32C and peaks around 65-70C.  Most games it never reaches 70 and I'm extremely happy with my purchase.  I would 100% recommend this card to anyone with a smaller case, or to anyone just looking for a rear exhaust cooler. Is 500 watts enough for this card? I only have a 500w power supply so i´m wondering. It says that 500w is the minimum for the gtx 970 in general but it seems this card uses more power than other cards and some people say that you should get 600w or more. Anyone who has a 500w power supply and this card who has any experience with it?

Depends on what else is in your system. If you running newer lower power processor, single hard drive or ssd and maybe a single optical drive you can get away with a 500 watt PSU. Nvidias latest 900 series cards are super effecet with the exception of the 980 ti and Titan X. Do check if your power supply support at least 28 amps of the 5v rail to make sure that your card will get enough juice

Does the fan completely turn off when idling, as the Strix and other aftermarket coolers would?

No, the fan doesn't turn completely off. According to the sensors it seems to idle at about 28%/1064 RPM and it's pretty quiet. I have two of them in SLI and even at full load they're not loud.

What is the difference between this and the strix in performance?

Right out of the box, the Strix is clocked higher and will run cooler due to it's much larger heatsink and dual fans.  The Strix will run slightly faster, probably not noticeable though.

Honestly the only reason you should be buying the Turbo is if you have a small case and need to exhaust the gpu heat out the back of your case or your running multiple in SLI.  If you have a normal sized case with decent airflow, you would be better off with the Strix.  Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with the Turbo, it's just kinda specialized in what it does and who it's for.  I love it, but I have a really small case and needed to vent the gpu heat out of the back.  Perfect for me, might not be perfect for others.

What's the difference between this card and ASUS GTX 970 Strix..??

There are quite a few differences between the Turbo and Strix models from Asus.  The Turbo uses a short pcb and requires 1 8 pin pcie connector, while the Strix uses a full length pcb and requires 2 6 pin pcie connectors.  The Strix also has an open air cooler design that will run cooler and overclock better.  The Turbo has a dual intake blower style cooler.  The Strix is also has a higher core and boost clock than the Turbo.  Hope this helps.

What is the min. Power supply wattage?

According to Nvidia it's 500 Watts for the GTX 970 level cards. This should be across the board. This card only requires one plug from the power supply. I personally recommend a bit more, that said I'm at 750 watts and run two of these in SLI smoothly.
