Will this 3GB GTX 660 be compatible in SLI mode with a 2GB GTX 660 or does the memory have to be the same?

Hi there! Great question! and basically yes they can work together BUT keep in mind that due to how SLI works it will only use the lowest set of memory. So in your example you will have 2GB of memory running on both cards even though one of them has 3GB available.

To get more into it. SLI simply put, is switching from card A to card B from frame to frame during your game. So for this to not look or perform wakky (jumping from 2GB available to 3GBs each frame) SLI equals out both cards to the lowest available.

Is this card backwards compatible with PCIe 2.0?

Yes it is.   In fact I am using 2.0 on my system.   There are actually very few motherboards that actually support 3.x to this day.    They are just now starting to be shipped in new computer systems.    You are fine on 2.x system.    It will work on 1.x most of the time as well.

I love this card.    Keep in mind,  if you are planning on using something like after effects for the cuda processors, it will say this card is not certified.   uncheck that and it works like a champ.

The fans are so easy to clean.   People smoke in this house.   This is the easiest piece in my entire system to clean.

I highly recommend this to anyone that is learning 3d software, mathematics and/or gaming.

Assasins creed unity states you should have a 680 card or higher I think.   Higher than what this is.    I have the settings cranked out at max on 1080p and its flawless.    World of warcraft's new expansion is amazing at 1080p ultra settings with vsync and no triple buffering (top quality).

My simulations of particle effects in various 3d programs have gone from days to minutes.   Bear in mind, no graphics card will help if the software you are using doesn't support it yet.   For example, cinema 4d and many render engines do not use graphics gpu.   It simply doesn't matter in those cases what gpu you have.

The 3GB of ram is a wonderful extra, as is the 192 bit gddr5.

One last note.   Upgrading to a 3.x motherboard may not increase the throughput at all on your system.   The card in theory will accept more data at 3.x than at 2.x to process or send out to the monitor.   This generally means faster framerates.   However, that is reliant upon other factors such as:   how fast your hard drive, processor and memory can send this information to the card.

It took me a long time to figure all of this out.   I know it is more info than you asked for, but better to cover the bases.

What is the recommended power supply for this card? Currently have a gtx 460 and a 400watt supply and looking for an upgrade.

I cant answer that question in detail, although i can assume your power supply doesn't have 2 6 pin connectors. If you want an okay power supply at a budget that has lasted me more than a year and still running, I've used the coolmax 500w power supply.

I feel you should be looking at the motherboard. It looks like your processor is plenty fast enough. Look at the manual from the motherboard. You will need to have an open PCI Express 3.0 or at least a 2.0 x16 this card is backwards compatible. You will also need to make sure you have an open space under the card because it will take up to spaces.
