Are pci and pci express the same thing?

PCI and PCI express are a matter of pin/ block configuration. PCI express has been in boards since the mid 2000's. The PCI block is dedicated for video. The other PCI blocks on the board will appear shorter. You can check the documentation on the mother board, or perhaps contact tech support for the manufacturer of the computer, for example HP. That said this card is very much Windows compatable, the system installed the NVidia software on its own with no issues. I am now utilizing the HDMI sound from the video card. The HDMI went to the back of my monitor. I than plugged my sound bar and woofer into the monitor. The sound has never been better. I hope this helped.

Does this come with all the cables that I will need? Specifically, it has a dual DVI output, does it come with a dual DVI cable that would split the DVI connector so that I could plug two standard DVI cables to the unit and run them to two separate monitors with DVI inputs? Or do I need to order one of those as well?

It would be nice if they just had a picture that showed you everything that came in the box... why don't they do that?

It does not come with any splitters. When we use the cards in installs we run a cable from each port to a monitor. You can then split the signal in the display settings to run a dual monitor set up.

When I hook up the hdmi from my monitor to my pc would you plug it into the motherboard or into the video card if so which card because I have two?

Definitely the video card. The motherboard one is the integrated graphics which runs off of the CPU. The purpose of separate video card is to have separate processing power dedicated to just video.

yes.  It comes with 2.  One has the HDMI and DVI connections, and the other the is a Dsub connector.  They take 2 slot spaces.

The board will fit into any case.  I would open up your case and make sure you have the correct slot for it.
