Can you just have one color going on the card? I am building a blue build and don't want the color spectrum cycling.

This card uses the Asus Aura RGB Lighting which can be controlled via a program you can install on the computer to set specific solid colors or solid colors with several effects like breathing, strobing and flashing to the music.

does this have pascal architecture?

Graphic cards 1080, 1070, 1060 and the new 1050 from all different manufacturers use the Nvidia GPU that is based on Pascal technology.

Can you manually i.e. no software needed turn off the LED?  I have a clear case and don't like shiny lights on my face...

you can always unplug the leds from the pcb, i had to do it with my Strixs 390x becuase i had no control over the pulse

There seem to be 2 versions of the 1070 Strix; (1)STRIX-GTX1070-8G-GAMING -max boost at 1721 and (2)STRIX-GTX1070-O8G-GAMING -max boost at 1860.  They look like the exact same card and I couldn't find anything different on their tech sheets.  Are they identical cards other than the OC presets?

yes, both cards are the same except the over clock speed.  Which in my opinion is worth the extra money.

What power connector's are needed for this GPU?

can i simply turn led's off to save on electricity? I know it may not take much but I don't really need or want a bunch of led's lighting up the inside of my case...

Yes. Launch GPU Tweak ll and go to tools. Then go to the light icon on the right. Click on it and the on/off switch will be at the top of page. Just click on it and you're done. Very easy.

Is the DVI-D port single or dual link? 
It does not mention in the specifications. All the other similar ASUS models say dual, so is it a case of it was just left out (as typo) on this model, or does it really mean it is just single link?

Definitely dual link. I've set 144hz refresh rate in the nvidia control panel so it has to be dual.

It comes with Aura software for controlling the RGB lighting color and style (steady on, flash, pulse, etc). You can also download it from the Asus GTX 1070 support page under Drivers and Tools, in the Utilities section.
