I was on evga website and it does not show a gddr5 for this product only ddr3? what does this card really have?  thanks

I bought this card a couple of weeks ago and it does indeed have 1GB of DDR5.

It works really well for my purposes which is mainly work related stuff, and then some gaming (WoW mainly).

Is this card truely Kepler architecture?  I know it is a 640 which would imply that it indeed is but I'm seeing a shader clock speed in the description and Kepler has unified clocks... Deciding between this and the gigabyte version (both GDDR5) and that would be a kicker...

knowing about the integrations of the architecture leads me to suggest you go ahead and sink the bucks to get the better versions of the nVidia lines GTX 600 series. I liked the GT 640 because of the cost and its still gamable. But when I design a sys for High end games or video editors I always go with GTX lines. There were a couple in the 600 line that had issues on compiling with overclocking so I would be careful and check reviews closely. I still use a GTX 240 series card for my video editing system.

It should be able to fit into the case, just be mindful of how much power you have in your case. If it isn't a sufficient amount, you could fry the entire computer.
