Does this card have a spdif connector to run audio over the HDMI cable?

No spdif connector, what you see is what you get.
It's a nice card, I am running windows 8 running and photoshop cs6 required more memory and this card did the trick.

i bought a few of theses for a series of pc's that were small boxed form. no reason it would'nt fit in your box. they worked perfectly for what i needed

would this card be considered an upgrade from the nvidia geforce gt610 model? If not can you recommend one  that would be a nice upgrade to replace  the gt610. looking to stay in the 100 dollar range max.

I would not recommend this card mine over heated and quit on me and jaton is impossible to get a hold of. Go with the msi gt 650 it's good and around the same price.

I have an OptiPlex 745 an a foxconn LS-36 motherboard. I was wondering if this video card would work in my computer?

By the looks of your motherboard, I would say yes. The PC I bought this for was a dell optiplex 755 with a very similar BTX motherboard. I would say I'm only 95% sure on this because there are times a motherboard just won't accept certain pieces of equipment for unknown reasons. I would take that chance seeing how decent of a video card it is for the price and even if it doesn't work, you can always return it for most of your money back.

The box say's it has 48 processing cores. Still working fine with one  HDMI monitor. Hope this helps.

Yes it does. But I had to modify the case a bit by cutting some plastic around the fan.

the only reason i bought this was because of the small form for an ibm mini. i needed that dual cable. still had to modify the case and the io plate in order to install it. working dual monitors and no negative feedback from the user over 6 months

yes it will in the nividia setting or control panel will be at the bottom right corner will give you step by step instruction on it
