pci express 3.0 video cards are they compatable with pci express 2.0?

Yes. My XPS 8500 has a PCI Express 2.0 graphics card slot which is compatible with PCI Express 3.0.  Actually, the performance tests are pretty much the same between the PCI 2 and 3.  It's within about 5%.  All PCI 3 cards are compatible with PCI 2.

This is a low power requirement card - a relative term tho; lower than *some of the beefier GTXs.
There is a particular spec you want to look for in a PSU
That is, High AMPS on the 12v Rail
I chose the Corsair CX500M because it spec'd higher AMPS on the 12v Rail than others in its class.
If you are considering more than One GPU, might head up to 650-700-750 Watt PSU.
Watts not as important as AMPS on 12v Rail
This card also requires 2 Molex connections from PSU for the 6 pin adapter you must attach to the 960 SC

Does anyone think this card will play Batman: Arkham Knight when it comes out?  Or will I have to go for a 970?  I'm looking to buy the 4GB version of this card, so memory shouldn't be an issue.  Obviously it plays the Witcher 3 since the game comes with the card through Newegg, but what about Batman?  There is a site I use to test compatibility with games, but it only works with what is in your system now, not if you are going to buy something, so that's why I ask.  I don't want to buy it and find out it's not good enough.  Thanks for your responses.

Definitely, should be nearly top quality - according to GeForce's website's requirement for Batman: Arkham Knight:

Minimum:  GeForce GTX 660
Recommended:  GeForce GTX 760
Ultra:  GeForce GTX 980

With the GeForce experience you should get *nearly* the highest quality.  It'll play smooth but if you want pristine,..

Yes. This video card is good for gaming. I work on 3D animations and this card works nicely I'm also running an I7 CPU with 4 GB or DDR 3 ram The fan on this card is thermostat controlled. When the video cards CPU is under heavy demand, the fan will run to keep it cool. Just make sure your power supply has 400 watts of power to run this card plus your other hardware. I had to upgrade mine to 800 watt PSU.

I'm looking to replace my failed Galaxy GT440 and have been looking at this or the GTX750TI. Problem is I'm running ancient hardware. HP M9510f has 8GB of DDR2 with a Quad core Q8200. Should I just save the money and go with the 750?

I honestly would not get either cards, as the computer most likely could not handle them, as they require a more powerful Power supply that the HP M9510f does not have. The GTX 750 Ti requires one 6 pin power connector and the GTX 970 requires two 6 pin connectors. Your computer will probably not have even one connector, let alone two.

You will most likley need to go no more than a GT 640, even that would be pushing your computers power supply. Otherwise, you will need to buy/build a completely new gaming computer that supports these graphics cards.

I'm getting this card because it's a 6-pin rather than the other 960's which are 8-pins, but is there a difference between this and other 960's that are full sized? I'm getting this card for gaming, and I'd like to know if it affects performance/fps.

I have no idea of the difference in a factual manor. I do however know that this card plays FAR CRY 4 on high very well and battlefield 4 on high and COD black ops 3 all at console standard just fine and on ultra FC4 was good Not GREAT however that may have been due to the fact I only had 6 gigs of poo ram. But overall this is a nice midrange card for the money.

I am a twitch streamer and still a novice at what specific parts do i was wondering if this card would be good for twitch streaming for a capture device?

You should be fine i play most of my games on ultra was a little.....shoppy but that was the monitor. Bad refresh rate you should be fine for a good picture but its not a video cap card. Its straigh graphics. It will only give you a great pic on the screen

I have a 300W power supply, will this run even though it says recommended 400W?

It could but it is using 120W so you will need to figure in what the other wattage the other components are using and if it is too much well then the computer just won't start.  Then U will wish U had that 400W in there.
