I don't agree that people generally must not like the zotac brand. I think its more that they are smaller and that people are less aware of the zotac brand rather. Sure there will be those who don't like them. but there are also people who like them. and there are people who are loyal to the brands they are used to regardless and will wait it out until the one they want is available.
All GTX 970 perform similarly. How manufacturers make them stand out are the coolers they use and the length of the cards...in my opinion. icestorm. twin frozr. windforce. acx. pricing also plays a factor. the 980 omega is faster out of the box clock then msi and asus version. all 3 pricing is at $580. zotac is 10.5" length. msi is 10.59" length. asus is 11.36" length.
In the end, if you think it looks cool and is at a good price point, I don't see any negatives on the purchase.

Question 3

Has the voltage lock been removed yet on these cards? It seems to affect all Zotacs cards except the refernce model.

The software when first installed has it locked and can be unlocked in the settings area. I can't vouch for whether it actually changes the voltage though.

Does it support HDCP 2.2? It doesn't really say anything about that.

All GTX 970 and 980 only say HDCP compliant or HDCP ready. I don't think any of the cards available has specifically stated which version HDCP it really is. Better off going to NVIDIA or searching google to look for an answer on this.
