Question 1

on the overview it says 4k resolution on a 1080p display? is that means that i can see 4k in 1080p?

Basically this is a completely optional process in which the card renders the video in 4k, then it is forced down to 1080p. You're still only seeing 1080p, but since the image was rendered at 4k, there is less aliasing visible. However from my personal observation this process makes the image pretty soft looking and some of the sharpness of the image is lost. Also bear in mind that this process is very taxing on the hardware, since it is rendering in 4k, so games that would push the card at 1080p would slow.down with this process. It can make older games look a bit better without too much trouble though.

Question 2

I am currently running a HIS R9 290x with a 4k Samsung 28" monitor. I'm leaning towards this card now. What do you guys think? My card runs a boost of 1000 mhz.

This is a FANTASTIC CARD!!!! I've had no problems with it and it runs cool. The card comes out of the box at 1291mhz and boost to 1392mhz without  over clocking. You would be happy with the purchase of this card.  If your thinking of running a SLI configuration though, you will need to buy two of these cards.  They don't work in SLI with other cards; thats the only down side. A great card non the less.  Enjoy!  Happy New Egg customer.

people that OC this card seem to hate it. im not going to OC, i just want to know if this is a great card right out of the box?

I am not a gpu expert, but I'll tell you my experience with it.
So far, it's been serving me superbly, right out of the box.

I use 34 inch ultrawide monitor (3440 x 1440) and mostly play
battlefield 4 and Middle Earth in highest settings.
Frame rate stays above 60, or at 60 if v-sync is on, most of the time, and it rarely goes below 50.
I do not feel that I need to do any OC at all.

And it is extremely quite. The fans keep the gpu at around 79~80c during full loading. 
Comparing with other gpus that I had before, MSI 560ti twin frozr and Galaxy 670 4gb, my Zotac 980 extreme is more quite than those.

Bottom line is: Yes, this is a great card right out of the box.

I bought this card because it's one of the most powerful cards available and was a significant improvement over my last card. I like to improve my computer in small parts though so it's less of an impact on my wallet.

A better GTX980 will likely be out next year, and rather than buying an entirely new set of cards, I would like to try and SLI. Can this card SLI with other GTX 980 cards, or only the GTX980 AMP! Extreme?

The two things to look at when trying to SLI two cards are the chipset and clock speed.  Obviously other GTX980 cards will have the same chipset, but what you'll find is that the clock speeds will differ, which means they will both be forced to the lesser of the two.  To be safe, I always recommend buying the same model (or at least same brand) in case there's some kind of imcompatibility, but it's likely you shouldn't have to.

Question 6

Anyone using this card that can talk to noise and temp levels? Both at idle and load?

Very quiet.  I just hate that I have to go into the OC section EVERY time I started the comp to turn off the stupid green light.  And then leave the OC program running to keep it off.

Do the fans intake cool air or dispel warm air?

I'm not sure,  But I have all mechanical cooling and I oc mine,  and it never gets over 43c

I am looking at getting either this GPU or the EVGA GTX 980. How well does this overclock? Also, I noticed that this says DDR5 whereas the EVGA says GDDR5. I would assume that this is just a typo, but want to be sure. Thanks in advance!

My sample has overclocked to 1520 core/2050 (8200) memory for benchmarks at 1.212v in the stock bios modified with Maxwell BIOS Tweaker and a special NVFLASH version, and 1468/2050 stable at 1.162v for Folding@Home and everything else (the board was NOT truly 100% stable above 1481 core regardless of voltage). This board is really overkill, but it does run pretty quiet and cool (never exceeded 66c in Guild Wars 2 on max usage at 85% fan speed), even at high fan speeds. I did edit in a higher power limit because software limit is 111%, but these chips are really efficient and won't come near the power consumption of say an R9 290/X, especially a heavily overclocked one.

Also, there is no such thing as regular DDR5, only the GDDR5 we have known and loved since 2008. It's just a typo.

Is this product compatible with Asus x99 Deluxe mobo?

Yes. This GPU uses a PCI-e 3.0 16x slot on the motherboard. As long as you have three open slots and enough room in your case, this should work with your setup.

Question 10

I was just wondering about this card only having 1 HDMI port. Are the other 3 display ports HDMI also? I did see the DVI. I am running a 3 monitor set up so I need at least 2 HDMI.
