Any one have any opinions on this. I'm looking to get it for use with Intel Skull Canyon and tossing up  between this and the Razer Core. Thoughts?

I currently use this with a Skull Canyon. Once I got the drivers for everything up and running, it works flawlessly! The only minor hiccup I've run into is that the device takes some time to actually start after you power on the NUC, so to make any bios changes you have to connect via HDMI to the nuc itself.

it does but I dont recommend you buy this box, the chip runs worse than other tb3 egpu solutions; bandwidth is 10-20% slowe than most due to firmware problems which they have not solved. sonnet box or akitio node are cheaper alternatives.

Question 3

I have a Lenovo T460s with the Lenovo docking station.  I have thunderbolt 2 connector, as well as, USB 3.0 - with the use of an adapter, is there any way to get this to work with my machine?  I have a Nividia GTX 1080 left over from a build that broke down on me, so I am trying to take stuff left over from two machines to make one.  Thoughts?

You can't do anything with USB 3.0. In THEORY you can use the Apple TB2 to TB3 adapter which is bi-directional, to adapt it, but I wouldn't do it myself. You're probably better off putting the $450 into a new machine.

Will this work with my Acer Predator 15 G9? It does have a Thunderbolt 3 slot.

If Acer has enabled external graphics cards, yes.  You will need the Thunderbolt 3: NVM 16 or newer update and you need to check if Acer has enabled external graphics in the Thunderbolt 3 software on your PC.  To check, go into the system tray, right click on the Thunderbolt 3 icon, go to settings, and then details.

How come does this not support pascal or polaris gpus?

I did have a sapphire Rx 480 in it factory OC, but it was defective so I can't give it a fair shake but it worked easier than the GeForce to install and configure.

Will this work on my razer blade stealth 1st gen?

Also make sure to download the device drivers from the PowerColor website. Do not sure the included disc, as those are likely out of date.

If I was using this with an NVDIA 960, would I be able to use a Thunderbolt 3 --> Thunderbolt 2 adapter to plug it into a late 2013 MacBook Pro?

The official answer is no because it doesn't like the connection. However I have seen folks that do it online with a major performance hit however. I saw only a 1.06% drop in performance on a I7-6770hq on TB3. They said it was supposed to be a 5% degradation at least verse an internal card. Also tested on three systems with the worst results on a 2012 MacBook Air TB2 conversion which was a pain to get the driver modified to work and still was avg 15-20% slower than it should be. Not to mention that the card was slower as well. You could buy other supported options for a mac than this, sorry. Unless you have money to burn, I will always go with what is stable verse diy rigged anytime! That's coming from a Sr. engineer's advice that does this for a living. With that being said once troubleshooted I love this performance and form factor, along with price that I will use on many systems in the coming years. Everything that is SFF or portable will have TB3 on it by mid year for the most part.

I to have been waiting to purchase one, but unfortunately every time I have checked, it either cannot be sent from the US site, there is no stock on the US site, and it cannot be found on the Australian site.

Until it is added to that site and more stock becomes available, the correct answer is "It cannot be sent to Australia at the moment, but please keep checking"

Question 9

Is it possible to boot from a drive installed in this?  I have a work laptop (precision M7510) and I would like to have a separate windows installation on an SSD and boot from it at home.

You certainly could, but unless you're wanting the GPU side of this device as well, I'm sure there are cheaper options. Also, it wouldn't be without hiccups. Thunderbolt 3 is an incredibly fast connection, but it is still easy to fill the bandwidth, especially if you're using the eGPU at the same time. There could also be an issue with latency, as the data has to be sent for, received, and then acted upon before anything can happen. Personally I wouldn't recommend using the drive bay for anything that required constant data transfer.

Why is this now $450? Wasn't Newegg selling it for $379?

Unfortunately, this feels like the scalpers currently selling the Nintendo Switch.  Using limited supply to charge unfair prices.  If Newegg priced at the PowerColor MSRP of $379, they would have an immediate buyer.  Instead it looks like they prefer a quick price gouge to establishing a satisfied customer.
