i have windows 8 pro and had to purchase the windows media center as an add-on feature (10 bucks) and its working great.  there may be some other free apps you could try, but this was a 10 dollar solution that was painless in terms of effort.

I am using this unit with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.  I don't know if it will work with Windows 8.  This is the latest version from this manufacturer so I assume it will. Initially it refused to work for me but after dinking around with it, it started to work, and work well.

Question 3

I have a cable box from my cable provider - does box decode the signal allowing me to use the coaxial output from box going into my PC thru this product and receive ALL the channels the cable box receives?

I would expect that to work however you would need to change channels via the cable box since the output is limited to what your tv would see if it was attached with coax, also picture quality would suffer as in low resolution.  there are better options for that job that will offer much better quality, look at gaming DVR

Will this item compatible with Mac ?

At AverMedia's website, there are some Mac applications available.

But I don't sure if the this product will work on Mac and with that application.

Sorry, I've only used it with Windows 7.  For what it's worth, it works well, but runs quite hot, to the point that you can barely touch it.  It makes me wonder how long it will last, but so far, so good.  You need a strong antenna signal if you're cutting the cable cord.  I just can't justify paying money for the crap reality shows that seem to be all that's  available on cable.

Does it receive analog signals?

Yes, it does. I use it with the cable box. The cablebox gives out only analog signal even for digital channels. One tip is to choose setup manually in wmc setup when using cablebox.Otherwise, it might trouble you with an IR blaster not found or some such error.Good luck.

I was fortunate to have to return a defective widows 8 pc. It was replaced with a windows 7 pc and this USB tuner works perfectly well with wmc on that machine.  Sorry I can't be of more help...

Is it used for digital signal or just for analog?

It works on both analog & digital signal.....in my area, it takes a really healthy antenna to pull in all the digital channels, but it does work with them

will it tune channels such as 89.23?

I don't know what a channel 89.23 might be used for.
I use Volar Max for OTA TV transmission.  It sometimes gets bad reception because it is getting signals from 2 antennas and they interfere.  If you remove one signal reception, is fine.  The Volar Max can also get FM stations through Win MC such as 97.3 (or 97.30?)

Work with Windows 10? Replacing one that is no longer supported and Windows 10 has no Media Center. Aver Media Center doesn't recognize it and neither does much else. Any successes?

I'm currently using it on Win10 with MediaPortal.  The set up is pretty involved, but MediaPortal has good documentation, so if you're good at following written instructions and are willing to put a good 1~2 hours into it, you're good to go.

If you're looking for a plug n' play alternative, you're going to have to spend a lot more until someone delivers a Media Center for Win10.

One plus though.  Even though it was harder to configure, the combination of the Volar Max and MediaPortal delivers a MUCH higher quality picture and sound experience than Media Center ever did.

P.S. YouTube also has a bunch of tutorials on how to set it up.
