Would I be able to record Gamecube or PS2 footage with this?

You can record from anything that has an HDMI (without HDCP) or component output.  For older consoles with only composite output, you either need a converter to convert from composite to component, or you need a different device.  The HD PVR 1 (model 1212) has a component input and can record from older consoles directly without a converter, but the HD PVR 2 lacks that.

What color are the led's on this unit?

Mark - The light around the 'groove line' is light-blue.  Around back, there is a Red LED and a green LED; next to the power connecter.  I hope your TV has an HDMI output, otherwise the box will collect dust someplace, like mine.

I'm not sure what you mean by your question. I will take a guess and explain how the device functions, and maybe that will answer your question.

The PVR is a simple pass-through device. You place it in the stream of your television feed (between your cable/satellite box and your tv). It receives the decoded signal from the box and then outputs that signal. It has one HDMI out port and one USB port, so you can pass the signal through the HDMI port to your TV, while also sending the signal to your computer via the USB port for recording.

Depends on whether you have a video and sound (not radio frequency) output on your TV.  So, if you have RCA Video/Sound outputs that can send the on-the-air signal to some device (like the Hauppauge) you're all set.   If not you need something with a video tuner in it - either installed in your PC to record directly on your PC, or that can output video (composite or component) and sound.   HDMI out might work for both video and sound, but you might get stopped by HDCP...

Yes, I have an xbox 360 with component. This pvr comes with a component input for your xbox. You will then output with an hdmi to your viewing source..tv/monitor/projector and run usb 2.0 to your computer to record gameplay and/or stream live to twitch,ustream etc..

apparently you can - I have been struggling to get it to stream to uStream - but I believe it's mostly my fault.  My PC is getting old and it really needs something running Win 7 with plenty of juice (RAM) and multicore processing.  I am re-building my PC and going at it again.  Lots of people seem to have success, just not me . . . yet!  If your PC is fairly modern you should have a straight run at it.

The HD-PVR only records HD from a Cablebox that has component video connections on it. As far as I know, DVD players do not have component video (red/Green/Blue) DVD players have HDMI or (yellow for video and red for audio right and white for audio left) The USB cable connects the PVR output to your computer which is then converted to the three codecs that the HD-PVR outputs to your computer's hard drive via Total Media Extreme software which comes with the PVR.
