Will this unit work with HD DirecTv receiver?

This unit will work with any HDMI component. I use mine with PS3 and Comcast HD DVR. The only requirement is an HDMI port on both your TV and the device outputting the signal. I absolutely love this device, it works great! You really do need to read and fully understand how it works first. Be patient while it turns on and establishes a signal. If you are using the IR blaster, take care to aim them properly. It's a two person job. Once done correctly it works flawlessly! Enjoy.

Question 2

So I want to connect my upstairs PC to my downstairs TV. Will there be interference due to a. distance and/or b. the upstairs/downstairs scenario? If it would work is this the best model, or is there a better option? Thank you

It mainly depends on the distance.  I am able to go from the down stair to upstairs if the rooms are close enough.  I did try going downstairs to upstairs and across my entire house and it did not work.  Because this will be displayed on 2 screen they will need to have the same resolution.  If you computer handles multiple screen then there are some cheaper options that do not have a pass through.

Question 3

are additional receivers available or supported? i would like to have 3 TV's in various locations connected to 1 source.

theoretically yes but i haven't been able to find information on how to do it or where to get a receiver.

however the "MyWirlessTV" is pretty much the exact same thing but has easy instructions on how to set up multiple receivers and transmitters.

Newegg is blocking me from entering newegg item numbers (looks like a phone number) so i cant direct you to the item page but just search for "MyWirelessTV" all one word.

there are a few differences; the actiontec supports USB pass through so you can connect a keyboard and mouse to it and use a computer where the receiver is. The actiontec costs a little more and it uses a wall plug for power.

The IOgear receiver does not have usb pass through however can be powered from USB... most TVs and projectors have powered usb ports on them so you can hide it behind the TV easily or next to the projector and only have one power cable. much cleaner looking.

one thing I absolutely love about the IOgear is that it has no latency. I put it on my DLP projector and i started using that for gaming because even with the wireless compression and transfer it was way faster than my Sony LCD tv.
     i don't know if the Actiontec has latency.

Will this work with hd cable  and can each tv view a differant channels.?

Yes, works great with HD cable but I'm fairly certain that it will not allow u to watch different chanels since the cable box is only able to send out one chanel at a time.  The unit works great and the picture quality is very good as well..

Question 5

Let's say, i have a DVR on input 1 and a PS3 on input 2, can the "pass through" output display the DVR while the "transmitted" output display the PS3 at the same time?

What i'm trying to find out if this is a true 2 output setup. i.e. can i have two different outputs running at the same time, or is the pass through output always the same as the transmitted output?

Ali,

The Passthrough output is always the same as the transmitted out.  So, if you chose Input 1 (DVR), it will "trasmit" DVR HDMI signals wirelessly to receiver, and "passthrough" the same (DVR) signals through an HDMI cable, to a connected display.

I LOVE this unit!!  I have it upstairs, in a closet, connected to my PC and BluRay player and 5.1 sorround.  In the adjacent room, ive got my 23" PC monitor, wireless Keyboard, mouse, gamepads, and sorround speakers connected throught a 15' HDMI cable, 12' usb 3.0 extension cable, 1' USB 3.0 hub.  
Downstairs I have a tv mounted on wall connected to this units wireless receiver.  Connected to tv is also a soundbar and I have wireless X360 gamepads in that room.  
When I want to do 1 player PC gaming, i can play upstairs or game with friends downstairs.  My PC also has my media server and works simply as PC if i need it.

Again, i am completely satisfied and suggest you purchase immediately!!

My direct tv only has one hdmi port will I need a spliter?

That should be fine. Your direct TV box HDMI will connect into the transmitter of the wireless kit. You will connect the wireless kit receiver to your TV via a separate HDMI cable (you need two HDMI cables total).

how does this product allow you to control the cable box (channel selection)?

You have to hook up the included infrared sensor between the larger "base" device and your cable box.  Once you have the sensor attached to your cable box in the right location, which can be tricky to get it right, depending upon the cable box, then you can just use your normal cable remote (or a universal, if you're using that) and point it to the smaller "receiver" box that is attached to your TV.

We are looking for a powerful router and extender that will enable us to get GOOD wifi throughout a 5000 sq ft, one-story home.  We have an xfinity router and internet service, but the signal doesn't travel far.

Any suggestions are appreciated!  Can you help?

This device isn't a WI-FI router.  This can be used to wirelessly transmit an HDMI video signal to another room (or to another screen in the same room).

That being said, regarding this device specifically, I've tested mine with the receiver at a range of about 10-15ft from the transmitter, through one interior wall, and it works okay, though it does drop signal intermittently (I think mine may be defective though, after talking about this with IOGear support).

The specs on this system say the transmitter has:

1 x HDMI out (loop-through local port). I need to know, is the HDMI signal on that output ALL the time or only when the system acquires lock?

As long as the transmitter is in standby mode (red light) or transmitting (blue light = wireless lock) it will send video through the output port.  If you power the master unit off it will not transmit.

Question 10

I have looked a couple of HD remote source systems. I actually ordered one. Within about an hour of its arrival I had it setup to transmit my HDMI output from a PC to an HDMI flat screen. It would not work. I called the manufacturer who informed me the technology would not work with a PC output. It worked with a game box or any number of video source devices but not a PC. I see nowhere in the documentation nor in the answers here anyone specifically stating they have a PC HDMI output working on the tech. Does it work when attached to a PC?

Yes it does work.  I have an ATI Radeon 5450 HD Card and a Belkin HDMI 2 port switch which I use to switch video between an HMDI connected monitor and an HDMI connected TV across the room.
