Question 1

Has anyone had any issues with installation of this card locking up the sleep function in Windows 7? After install my machine won't come out of sleep without a reboot? Thanks

I can't remember what sort of issue I had, but I have two models of this board (2 port and 4 port).  I have them in two different PCs, and at one point switched them, but found out there were problems.  I switched them back and everything worked as it should.  Perhaps it was the difference in motherboards.   Also, there is different software for each, and that was a problem.  I thought it was the same version for both, but not the case.
My version of Win 7 is Pro 32bit if that helps in anyway.  There may be different problems with the 64bit.

Does it fit on PCIe x1 slot?

Yes it does. I've purchased three of these - and they all work great. Please note, it does require a power source. You may already have an extra power cable in your PC. If not, I'd buy a splitter (power) and use one end in the original slot (e.g., the one that powered a HDD or your optical drive) and the other end to power your UBS PCI express card. I have a new rosewill micro tower,mini Matx case , with blue 20 pin female connector for front panel usb3's. IS there a male connector on the card to attach front usb3's??

If I understand your question, the answer would be no. Express Card works off the PCI slot; also requires 12volt power with power extension cord enclosed.  Your front panel USB's are designed to work off and be connected via their cables to your motherboard.     By adding the Express card you would be adding an additional 4  USB3 slots.  The Express Card works flawlessly and I have had no problems with it.  As a matter of fact, I also have a USB3 hub plugged into it making it more convenient for me when I have a USB3 gadget to plug in (and I don't have to worry if its going to draw too much power either as the hub is powered).

what chipset is on this board?

not sure, I installed it for someone else that needed updated USB ports on an older PC.  All I can tell you is that it worked fine for the Windows 8, AMD board it was installed on, and was later installed on an Intel core i5 desktop without any issues.

Mac Pro users - is this card compatible with El Capitan on a 2008 Mac Pro?

I have a Mac Pro 2010 and could not get certain external drives to mount, so no I would NOT recommend it. I do recommend Sonnet Allegro USB 3.0 PCI Express Card which works perfectly.

I've used this card in several desktop PCs. Should work fine. You will need a power connector...be sure there's an open one internally - or buy a SATA Power cable splitter.

No, this Mediasonic will not fit on your motherboard. It has PCI Express connection which won't fit PCI 32-bit Bus on your motherboard.
