Question 1

Will I run into any problems if I mount this PSU upside down? My Micro ATX case mounts the PSU on the bottom with air intake coming from beneath the case.

If by upside down, you actually mean just installing it in the bottom of the case, then yes you can do that.  Mine is installed in the bottom of my case.  Some cases were built to have a PSU in the bottom and some on top.  Only other thing to consider, since it is on the bottom, is to make sure the vent for the PSU is not covered.  So don't place the case on the carpet or leave it flat on a floor or any other surface.  Fantastic PSU and definitely worth the upgrade to this device.  Hope this helps.

Question 2

My only Question/concern is, does it have SLI compatibility?

When it comes to needing to know if a power supply would be good for multi-GPU (SLI) or not, you have to look at two things:

#1 is how many watts are required to run the graphics cards that you want to run? And that's easy to figure out. Just look at the watt number. This power supply is 750W, you may need more or not depending on the graphic cards you intend to use.

#2 is the efficiency. You needs a VERY efficient power supply and this particular one has a Platinum efficiency rating. Anything above Gold is great and this one is considered "excellent".

Question 3

The specifications states 3 Pci-e 6+2 connectors and 3 Sata power connectors. This seems suspect or misleading.

Would someone clarify the number of connectors and or cables/connectors that this device supports?

The (3) PCI-Express cables are modular 6+2 pin connectors. This means they can be used to connect to either 6 pin or 8 pin power configurations. There are (2) of these connectors per cable as visible by the pictures on Newegg.

The (3) SATA power cables have (3) connectors per cable.

There are (5) slots available on the back of the unit for SATA or Peripheral power cables. There are (5) slots available for PCI-e and CPU power cables.

I've listed what it comes with below which is straight from the newegg listed specification. As long as you use your discretion to not exceed the power draw of this unit you should be ok. There is a picture of the max wattage and max voltage loads, as well as a listing of the output in the specification.

I agree that the specification information available is misleading because it specifies "Connector" where "Pin Configuration" would be more appropriate. We also shouldn't have to dig for the information in pictures of the box contents; however, the pictures are there for your inspection.

Question 4

Does anyone else's give off a slight, constant smell of glue and solder when powered on? Mine has since day 1, but it's been working perfectly and giving strong voltage readings for a few weeks now. I'm not OCing or doing anything crazy. I've never had a PSU or any component smell weird for more than about a day before.

No, mine does not have that issue, beyond the normal "new tech" smell that usually lasts for a few days.

More than likely what you are smelling is because Corsair might have used a little too much glue on that unit, so when the circuitry heats up it the glue around it starts to smell.

If it really bothers you, you can try to RMA, Corsair has some of the best support guys in the industry and will help you out if it bothers you.

Safety Note: Please do not under any circumstance open it yourself or try to do anything inside of the unit yourself as the parts inside are still highly charged even after it's been unplugged for days, and it houses enough charge to kill.

Can I plug in fans to this power supply?  If so, how many?

The way you usually connect fans to a power supply is to use the 4 pin Molex connector adapters that are generally provided with the fans. That's the type of connector that was used on IDE drives. Although Serial ATA has pretty much displaced IDE, it's still supported. The power supply comes with cables with that type of connector.  The adapters have a male connector on one end and a female connector on the other. This lets you string them together. In which case there's no limit to the number of fans you can plug in.

In my computer, the motherboard has seven connectors for fans. This is the preferred way to connect auxiliary fans because these connectors include an input that lets the computer measure the fan speed. In some cases the computer can control the speed of fans or turn them on or off as needed.

Question 6

I have one of these power supplys and it is great, but I still don't understand where to plug in the other end of the C-link, the four prong in line plug goes to the power supply, but the very tiny plug does not look familiar to me?

Before you are able to monitor your new PSU with Corsair Link™ you must
connect the power supply to an internal USB header using the included
USB cable.
1. Plug one end of the included USB cable into the USB PORT of the HXi Series,
seen here:
2. Plug the other end of the USB cable into a standard USB header on your
motherboard. (Check your motherboard manual for locations and compatibility).
3. Download the Corsair Link Dashboard software from at corsair. You want linksw and
then follow the instructions.

Question 7

Can anyone confirm whether this PSU is ErP compatible?  Apparently enabling ErP in the BIOS is the only way to completely power down my mobo and turn the lights off, but only if the PSU is ErP compatible.

Its a solid power supply. I wouldn't doubt that it meets the standards. Most every modern power supply does.

Hello, will this PSU work in EU? in 220-230V power lines?

I don't know this specifics but I have traveled a lot with 110 volt US equipment and used it in 220 volt systems with no trouble at all with a proper converter.  The is an excellent PSU

original power supply in my build out  was a corsair 750 watt, but I'm in need of a new power supply, model not available at the moment.
I had reliability issues constantly, and this is what I want to solve. I do not want any further issues with powering up and I am running four  27" monitors that aren't super efficient, and would like peoples opinion on quality or favorites and why.
Would you buy two to limit down time in event of another failure or can I just assume my first install was problematic?

Without having more details about the other contents in your pc or the condition of your surge protector between the outlet and your pc, its hard to say. In 12 years of building pcs Ive only had one fail on me. My 750i has been running flawlessly since install last year. Do some quick searching to make sure youre not running too many video cards or hard drives and then make sure stuff is appropriately divided up across rails and order up one more. Good luck!
