I'm a bit of a noob with the terminology, but I have a GTX970 (with a 8 and 6 pin plug) and three drives that need power (2 SSD's and one HDD), will this have all of the cords I need? Is there anything else I need to worry about?

Yes, it has everything you'd need. You would use 3 of the 6 SATA power cables it comes with for your 2 SSDs and one HDD and 2 of the 4 PCI-E cables for your GTX970. The PCI-E cables are 6+2 pin cables which means they can fit a 6 or 8 pin socket.

Not totally. This only has six SATA connectors while the CMPSU-650TX has 8. Here are the connectors on the CMPSU-650TX 1 x Main connector (20+4Pin) 1 x 4+4 Pin CPU 8 x Peripheral 8 x SATA 3 x Floppy 2 x PCI-E While this has: 1 x 24-pin ATX 1 x EPS Connector 1 x Floppy Connector 4 x 4-Pin Peripheral Connector 4 x PCIe Connector 6 x SATA Connector That said I'm very happy with this power supply
