Hi Paul,

Yes. Power supplies don't discriminate between AMD/Intel. The compatibility you would need to worry about is your motherboard; make sure that the power supply has the correct connector on it. Most newer motherboards have a 20+4 connection on them, so this PS is almost universal. Check your specs before buying to make sure.

Question 2

The specs list 3 Sata power connectors, the picture indicates a single connector????  How many sata power connectors are there???

I recently purchased and installed this PS on personal computer.
I am looking at it now.
There are 3 Serial ATA power connectors. One is by itself at the end of a 12" cable.  The other two are daisy-chained on a second cable, with the first plug about 12" from the PS and the next plug about 6" futher out on that same cable.

Mark, sorry for late reply. Replacement power supplies for name brand computers can be tricky. Your AMD chip will not know the difference, but an aftermarket power supply may not fit in the Lenovo chassis. I make my own pc's so I can use any power supply. Check the Lenovo (IBM) site for compatible power supplies. There may be an OEM direct replacement on the Lenovo website. If the power supply physically fits you should be fine. Make sure you have the correct amount of sata or molex power connectors.

I ordered this and the one I received had different connectors than what is shown in the photo. Do you have the unit shown in the pictures?

I don't remember what connectors it had, sorry. It did have what I needed or I did have convertors to do what I needed at the time, I repair PC's for friends as a hobby and don't remember this power supply.

Will this fit in my

The 450W replaced  my older power supply. Physically no problem. Hooked up appropriate connectors, and everything works fine except my CD drive. The first of the daisy chained 4pin connectors goes to my hard drive, the second is not used (cause it doesn't reach to my CD drive), and the third one goes to my CD drive. The CD drive appears to get power but doesn't recognize disks. What's the problem?

I don't want to make you feel stupid, but did you plug in the IDE/SATA connector to the CD Drive?
If everything is connected correctly you may have a defective power supply or CD drive. I got a power supply before from newegg that was DOA. Contacted newegg and got a refund, no problem. Hope this helps and good luck!

Does this PSU operate mainly on the 3.3v and 5v rails? I have an old machine and the 12v rail is useless.

What mobos use 8-pin cpu plugs? This was supposed to have two 4-pin plugs (according to the box). If I can't find a board at a low price I'm going to have to shelve this unit.

quad core cpu's usually use 2x 4 pin power plugs. newer lower power consumption CPU's may not need them. try to boot from a single four pin and stress test. it may be perfectly stable. it has been a while since I purchased this unit so i am a little foggy on the specifics, but I thought there were two four pins, maybe a single eight that can be separated. sorry I can't help more.
