Can those lights be turned off?

The fan light has three settings:  blue, red, and off (switch on exterior).  The socket lights are only on when a cable is inserted into the corresponding socket, though I don't think you can choose to turn them off, or override, when a cable is plugged into a given socket.

I got the "APEVIA X-QPACK-BL/420 Black/Blue Aluminum MicroATX Desktop Computer Case 420W Power Supply"  A little over a year ago for a small gaming rig. I still use the stock power supply but need to upgrade. Will this power supply fit in my case?

Also, my MB is the "ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS AM3+ AMD 760G + SB710 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard" is this PSU compatible? Thank you.

Sorry Jason, doubt you could get this PSU in your computer without some kind of modification. I looked on the manufacturer's website to see the dimensions of your current PSU; they had it in millimeters, so with a little conversion I found the approximate size of your current PSU. It was 4.57' x 5.87' x 3.42' and this Roswell power supply has the dimensions of 7.09' x 5.91' x 3.39'. That being said I don't know the size of your PSU slot I can't find that on their website, on my case my slot is 150mm x 86mm x 140mm and this guy fit in but not with much room, I hope I helpd!

How loud is the fan? Is it to loud? is it quiet?

I rarely notice any noise. The loudest fans in my system are my noctua nh d14 cooler fans. Ive owned this psu for about 2 years and so far it seems to be a quality product.

Question 4

I currently have this PSU? I am going to replace my themaltake 430 watt for this rosewill PSU.  but I think the dimensions are not the same.  I looked at the video of this one? Does anyone know if this will fit in my case?

should work just fine. made to fit into just about any standard psu spot. its just pretty long so make sure you dont have any obstructions inside your case. it will fit and bolt in your case but if you may have obstructions that might get in the way of the plugs. the psu is pretty long for one, and the metal ring plugs also stick out pretty far from the psu.

It says on the title, Intel Haswell ready? does it only work on Intel CPU's or is it compatible with AMD CPU's?  Its a power supply? I think it should work on any CPU.

Your assumption is correct. Being that it is simply a power supply, Yes it will work for either/or. But, it is stating that it is Intel Haswell Ready to let you know that it can support the newest CPU's made by intel. I bought it and Using it with i7, and I recommended it to a friend who is strictly AMD. They are having no problems with it.

Does the fan on this unit pull air into the PSU and out the end or in the outside and discharge into the case?

no, the fan points down and out. It does not vent into the case.

Will This Power Supply work with the MSI z97 Gaming 9 and The GTX 980? Also If I get a second 980 will it still work? Im having issues with knowing if this will work wth my motherboard

This should work fine with your new MSI Z97 Gaming 9 AC motherboard. As for the 980, do the calculation. The wires are there and unless Geforce recently changed their requirements on their video cards, it should work fine. I have 2 GTX 770 that work fine with this PSU.

BTW GTX 980 rated at 165W TDP with a max setting (not sure if you can access it) at 225W. So that is 330W from your Video cards. I don't think the rest of the computer components will get anywhere near that 1000W Ceiling.

Question 8

Is there a top to this thing?  Should it be installed fan up or down?  I'm installing it in the bottom of a CoolMaster HAF 923 and wondering if I should point the fan down to vent through the bottom of the case.

Its personal preference. I own a HAF 932 case. Originally I had the fan pulling air from underneath to not pull air away from my graphics Chip. But my computer is in a basement that can gather dust. So to be safe I put the fan up inside the case. After looking in afterburner my graphics card temps did not change. So I would just decide if you think it will be sucking up dust or not. If not I would mount it facing down.

In a lighted room the lights don't stand out so much. If you have a bottom vented case the blue led in the fan will throw a bit of light on the floor. In a dim or dark room I would say the pic supplied on newegg is pretty accurate.

Question 10

Think you could power a fx 9590 and a r9 295x2 off of this? Or would I need the 1300w version?

I would contact Rosewill if you are concerned, but I would think the 1000W should be more than sufficient. The r9 only requires a 500W power supply and SLI does not require double that. The total Amps is the question, but I am running an I7, 2 460 Nvidea cards in SLI and 4 hard drives with plenty of power to spare.
