I have a 'stock' (non-certified) 750W PSU. The Photon is attractive at the price and power point (850W). Do you think it's worth the money to do this? You thoughts are appreciated!

Working great for my i7 4790k and 970 gtx. The only problem I had was getting the sata power connector to plug into my SSD. I have 3 ways to mount SSD but I can only use 1 way with the sata cable because the connector piece is not long enough (cable is plenty long enough just end piece is short causing it to hit the case in 2 of 3 mounting areas).

How long are the modular cables?

The cables are pretty long I think. I have the PSU installed inside a Phanteks Enthoo Luxe case which is a full tower, and was not a problem. I am hearing some coil whine though, especially when CPU is under-volted. So I turned off some CPU power saving features in my bios. Hope this helps.

Hello,
it is a standard sized atx power supply. These are the dimensions 3.39" x 5.91" x 7.09" as listed under the specifications. This will fit into most towers. If you are currently replacing a power supply it is easy enough to measure against what you have as most modern towers are based around this configuration for ease of use.

how long are all the cables - description states extra long cables for gaming case but how hard is it to list the actual length of each?

recent rebuild ran into length issue and ended up completely changing power supplies from one case to another - total pain - and still barely plugged in

I own a Rosewill CHALLENGER Black Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case, the vent at the bottom of this case is smaller then the size of the fan on the power supply. can I use this power supply in my case?

Yes, it will still exhaust the hot air out. or you could turn it so that it faces into the case and let the fans in your case cool the rig.
