Yes it will work with Windows 10. It will work with any computer that has a USB port. It is USB 3.0, and it is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1.  For the faster transfer speeds, plug it into a blue USB 3.0 port.

I have a ST3750330AS Seagate barracuda 7200.11 750-GB. Will this case work with it?

How well does this unit dissipate the heat to keep the drive cool?

In short: very well. My usage is short term though. I would turn the device on, back up data, turn the device off. During a normal work day, I have not observed any heat build up, or hot spots. I have left the device on for many hours unattended and it was an expected warm temperature.  Overall, I've had very good experiences with this particular model, and consider it  a top of the line unit.  If heat is your main concern, and you intend to run an enclosure unattended, with some drives running hotter than others, maybe consider a model with a fan directly on the side, or place the enclosure on a laptop cooler with a large slow moving fan. Something with low fan vibration.

I would highly recommend this model.

Can you get a 2.5" laptop drive to work in it, at least temporarily?

I just happened to have the enclosure (empty) and a couple of 2.5" drives laying on my desk. Yes, it works, although there's no way to screw a 2.5" hard drive drive into the two tabs that you'd normally screw a 3.5" hard drive into. But, at least it works.

I don't think I'd actually put it IN the enclosure though or walk around with it (move it from computer to computer), unless you're careful with it. I think I'd leave it OUT of the enclosure, just to I could keep an eye on the drive and make sure it DOESN'T get disconnected from the SATA/power interface, which is the 'business end' of the enclosure where the USB and power connectors and the ON/OFF switch are located. By the way, that's the end of the enclosure you'll be unscrewing from the case (two small, black screws).

I'd also keep it drive down on a flat surface, so the drive stays FLAT on a desktop. Since the drive will be laying on the side where the circuit board is located, I'd also avoid laying it on ANY kind of metal surface where it could (potentially) short something out on the circuit board.

If you're willing to put up with it that way (temporarily), sure ... it'll work just fine.

Will most hard drives tolerate spinning 'on end' in this enclosure??

Orientation of hard drives makes no difference whatsoever, as long as they are either horizontal or vertical. What's NOT fine is at an angle; 41 degrees, for example. Slight angles (a few degrees) are okay.

That said, I don't use the vertical mount for the enclosure at all. I just lay the enclosure flat on a desk, or wherever a FLAT surface might present itself. I don't want to take the chance of tipping it over (accidentally) while the drive is spinning. That could easily cause the heads to crash into the spinning platters, effectively destroying the hard drive.

Work fine on Windows 8. But you must have a USB 3.0 socket on your to plug it into if you want the highest speed.

I have a dying hard drive that I would like to try and recover data from. How well would this work for that?

not just this enclosure but any could maybe be of help.  not that this is not a great product, you just want to try to save your data.  i tried this years ago with ide drives.  had pretty good success.  i found early on that just because a sick drive would not boot, data  could still be read and copied from it.  short answer, yes, as long as it is a sata drive.

The internal hard drive that I want to put in here is 3.63 TB. I saw that another enclosure was limited to 3 TB. Is this one? Do I need something special to handle a 3+TB drive? Thanks.

from the Rosewill site for "model RX307-PU3-35B", which says this one supports up to 6 TB drives.  I quote "*Suitable for 3.5” SATAI/?/? HDD (Max. 6 TB) *USB 3.0 & 2.0".  So your 3.63 TB drive will be supported by this enclosure, according to the manufacturer

Can I attach this to a wifi router to have a simple network-attached storage solution?  Or must it be attached to a computer?

I attached mine to the back of a WD MyCloud to give me a total of 12TB of space to get to from anywhere with an internet connection. So yes you can attach it to your router if it has a USB port and allows drives to be attached. My router has a USB 2 and a USB 3 port and I attached a flash drive to the USB 3 port and filled it with music so I can stream my favorite music from anywhere.

Question 10

I'm looking for an enclosure for my new 8TB WDC SATAIII HDD. It looks like this enclosure RX307-PU3-35B-3.5" has a 6TB limitation. Any reason why it can't be updated to support 8TB?

Rosewill's web site does not show drives over 6tb. It is very iffy that an 8tb drive would work. 
The cases use an integrated circuit that will address just so many tracks on a disk. As the number of tracks grow the space between tracks decreases and the tracks are thinner.
