Yeah, we know: it's hard to get excited over a power supply -- unless it goes bad. No one needs that kind of excitement. Well, with a three year parts and labor warranty, Zalman obviously thinks you won't have to worry about it.

The same power switching technology originally developed for the space program brings you 86% efficiency to keep your energy bills down. Other advanced features including four separate +12Vdc rails, connectors for ATX motherboards and nine peripherals, nine SATA drives, two floppy drives and two PCI-E boards. RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) compliant to reduce pollution, it has dual heat pipe technology and a 12 cm fan to reduce noise pollution as well.

Now you can keep your computer powered, green, and quiet, all at once. And greater efficiency not only keeps you from being a drag on the electrical grid, it means less heat generated; your air conditioner will thank you. That IS exciting! Check it out for yourself.

Worked for 8 years

Pros: Quiet
Efficient
Stable
powerful enough to drive an 8TB server

Cons: Gave no warning it was done. Kept the server running then during a reboot, it would not start up. After some testing, PSU failed a load test. Granted, got just over 8 years of 24/7 use out of it but would have been nice to get a warning its stability was dropping. Is it a con? No sure.

Overall Review: Currently out of stock, probably due to this model being discontinued. Not sure this review will be worth much unless Zalman is interested in more information to make their products better. Willing to share with them if they are interested.

Bought back in Dec 2008

Pros: I was kind of weary back in '08 of which PSU I'd be putting into my very first gaming rig, after a few weeks of looking at reviws and making a full list, I went with this one and couldn't of been happier. This baby has handled everything from a amd 6400+ with a ATI 3850, to my current set up of a AMD Fx 4100 with a R9 280x.

Cons: I wish I could think of some but I honestly never had a problem with this once I'd set it up and cable manage. This is the last remaining Original build piece in my current computer, its always nice seeing your PSU outlast your hard drives lol.

Overall Review: Alas, as of last week I started getting random computer shutdowns and I come to find out it is my power supply, I wish they still made these as I would have bought another in a heartbeat. Over 6 years of builds, upgrades, and overclock abuse when into this thing and it held up like a champ!

Bought in 2008. Still kicking!

Pros: Bought this back in 2008 (6+ years ago) and this thing is still running like a champ. Just took a multimeter to the connectors to verify they were still within the voltage tolerances and they were all perfect. About to transplant it into my Frankenstein HTPC. It's kind of overkill, but this thing is so silent and is supposedly very efficient, I don't see any point in buying a new power supply for now.

Cons: No super cool LEDs? No Cons.

Finally died

Pros: Lots of cables, good wattage, liked the heat pipe.

Cons: Finally died just out of warranty (> 3yrs).

Overall Review: Looks to be out of stock and probably discontinued at this point. Had a Zalmal 600W PS and it died too, but at least in warranty. It was replaced with a refurbished model.

Going strong

Pros: I've had this thing for 4yrs now and still going strong. So strong that I haven't even thought about until a friend looking to upgrade his PSU was asking me what I had.

Cons: Can't think of any, not sure why they dropped the 750w model. Seems like a bit of a jump from 600w to 850w

Overall Review: The PC this started in 4yrs ago went thru 4 PSU's in 6 years! This PSU was the last 3 years I had that PC, and a 1 year in my current PC and going.

Currently running a 2nd gen i3 and GTX 560Ti, so really under utilized, but going strong.

3yr life

Comments: Fairly quiet from a fan noise perspective, but it had a very annoying high pitch whine from the build date until it died. Most people didn't notice it or couldn't hear it, so it must have been in the slightly-over 20khz frequency range that only a few people can hear.

What a piece of junk

Comments: What a hassle it was trying to diagnose the cause of my computer trouble for two freakin years. I spent almost as much $ on expert help and shipping for replacement parts as I paid ($170) for the power supply. Now I have one more warranty department to deal with, and then I guess I'll have to figure out what to do with an extra refurbished power supply.

Dead after 2 weeks

Pros: There are no pros.

Cons: This is follow up. It took over 2 weeks and $20, but Zalman did replace my dead supply. My system worked perfectly till last night, a whole two weeks, and now won't turn on. The power supply tester shows 3.3V is sitting at 3.6V, so the motherboard is sensing the over voltage and protecting itself.

Overall Review: This unit was marked refurbished for whatever that is worth. Far as I'm concerned the product is junk. Beyond being failed, it is supposed to have over voltage protection (max on 3.3V is supposed to be 3.465V). Clearly, that is defective too.
