can this work with any 2.5 ssd? It says it can install any cosair ssd.

That is what this is for. those 4 holes on the bottom are to mount at 2.5" the side holes are to put it in a 3.5" bay

Has anyone used this to adapt SSDs (2.5") into a 3.5" SuperMicro hotswap bays?

This bracket is not recommended for the 3.5" SuperMicro (SM) hotswap bays!!!!  I bought one for this very purpose and found several issues. First issue is only the front 2 of the 4 screw holes on the side align properly with the SM hotswap tray. This was easily resolved by drilling and countersinking 2 new holes in the hotswap tray.  However the bigger problem is the screws hole for mounting the SSD into this bracket is in the wrong place. It needs to be 4 mm closer to the edge. This essentially means the SSD needs to be pressed to the right edge of the bracket as far as it will go. I did this by slotting the mounting holes in the bottom of the Corsair bracket. However, the screw holes on the side for mounting to the hotswap tray are indented into the area the SSD needs to sit, so I was not able to get the 4mm needed. I solved this by filing the indents off 
 and cutting the screws shorter (which effectively reduced the number of threads the screw was able to use). In the end, I was able to adapt it to work but it was not easy and it still does not slide into the bay smoothly, which concerns me. The alignment still appears to be slightly off and I will only put it in when the bay above it is empty and I can watch for proper alignment and push the tray to the side as needed.  I will not buy  this bracket for any future SSD additions to my SuperMicro hotswap bays. I will look for a better alternative to replace this poor solution..

How far apart are the side mounting holes?  I have an NZXT S340, and the side mounting holes are 4cm apart.

I measured mine this morning before work.  The outer two side screw holes are exactly 6cm apart.  This is the same as the mounting points for a standard 3.5" HDD.  They take 6-32 screws.  The bottom holes are to mount the SSD and those use the included M3 screws.

Yes, it comes with a set of 4 screws used to secure the SSD in the mounting bracket and another set of 4 screws to fasten the bracket to the 3.5” hard-drive bay.

will this bracket mount to a dell modular bracket (P/N GJ617 FOXCONN C-3598)? TIA

Accepted Answer

Any proprietary computer bays will cause issues with this adapter (I put mine in an HP Pro 6300 MT) because...well their mounts are proprietary and expensive to buy lol.  6-32 machine screws @ .5" length plus a couple washers later (rubber if you do any plumbing around the house you should have some spare) and viola - it will mount.
