I forgot to mention that you can see a picture of the plug in the product pictures on the Newegg site. Also, it only uses 2 of the 4 pins. It is the male plug, which you plug into a female Molex plug.

A fan only because the 1TB W-D "VelociRaptor" spins 10,000 RPM, and so it gets hot. VelociRaptor comes with "ICEPACK" finned heavy aluminum casting, but maybe you lost yours?

No, I don't believe you can unless you removed the fan (which takes up the "extra" space and is the selling feature of this mount) .

Will this work on 2009 Mac Pro 4.1/ More specifically, will the sata connection from drive match up with this Mac Model?

Why does everyone on this thread think the 2009 Mac Pro 4.1 is a laptop?? It's a DESKTOP! And YES it will work and the SATA connectors will match up.

Can you use it without the fan, just as a 2.5" -> 3.5" adapter?

You can use it without the fan by just not plugging it into your PSU.  However, it kind of defeats the point of buying this item in the first place.   The 60mm fan is whisper quiet and even in the toasty summers where I live, my mechanical HDD in this bay never went above 38 degrees celsius.

Well the fan is rated at 0.14 amps, I measured 1.67 watts running in my computer cabinet.

Would there be any advantage to mounting this into a case that already has a lot of airflow like an Antec 1200? Particularly for cooling a SSD.

Keeping the SSD drive cooler will extend the life of the drive as heat causes it to wear out faster and fail sooner

i have a lanboy air case and i was wondering if this mount will work in my case?

This item is fantastic, will fit into any standard 3.5" bay and holds two SSDs or 2.5" laptop drive.  I currently use this in a mini-itx system and it is holding one ADATA 64GB SSD and a 7mm 1GB Hitachi 7200 rpm 32MB cache backup drive.  The fan is a nice bonus.  All purchased at NewEgg.

How loud is the fan? I have an Antec case with 3  quiet 120mm fans and wonder if this fan will add a lot of noise.

I have this bay installed in an NZXT tower case equipped with three stock NZXT 120mm intake fans, plus three Thermaltake ring fans.  The Rosewill bay's fan is whisper quiet and cannot be heard above the standard noise coming from the case ventilation fans.
