will this ram work in it?

It looks like the specification for your iMac is 1600 MHz PC3-12800 DDR3 SO-DIMM SDRAM. Therefore, this ought to work, though it would be slower than what comes with your iMac. The behavior is hard to predict without having tried it out. When you have two different speeds of RAM in a computer, it will usually do one of two things: at best, it will slow all RAM down to the slowest setting, which in your case would be 1066 MHz; at worst it will refuse to turn on and choose to beep at you. I do not have an iMac, so I can't really say one way or another, though I have experienced that Apple can be pickier about memory than everyone else. That being said, this memory _should_ be fine on its own in your iMac, but you should already have 8 GB inside, which is why I am asuming you are adding to that. The normal disclaimers apply, I cannot provide a guarantee for my advice and you should seek a reliable answer to your situation with others who have tried out different speeds of RAM in an iMap.

Yes this will work in your macbook. I believe your Mac supports up to 16gb of ram although apples website might say its max is 8gb. After a firmware update a few years ago the maximum ram increased in most of their laptops, mine included which is a late 2009 MacBook Pro.
