Hello CT, the memory you're asking about is one grade better quality than the minimum your Dell requires, so I'm sure you'll be very happy with it.
To check memory compatibility in the future, browse to Newegg and click Computer Hardware, then scroll over to Memory and click it. Then click on Laptop Memory (or another type, depending upon what you're looking for). Now look on the left for a link called Product Finder and click it. Fill in the text fields and it'll show you the correct kind of memory to use.
BTW, it's good to use matching sticks of memory. If you use different size sticks (say, a 2 gb and a 1 gb) your pc will still run but not in dual-channel mode, meaning it'll slows the computer down maybe ten or twenty percent.

Yes the ram should fit.  It is standard DDR2 200 pin memory and should fit in most all DDR2 consumer laptops.  If you have a 32-bit OS then you will not be able to use the full 4gb as some memory is used as video ram.   Also, ensure your bios is up to date if any problems are noticed.
