I have a 3 year old Dell Inspiron, Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2320 CPU @ 3.00GHz, 3001 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s), x64-based PC, Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 6.00 GB, BIOS Version/Date Dell Inc. A10, 2/22/2013. Can I use Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model BLS2K4G3D169DS3 in my memory slots?

Crucial memory is the most trouble free and compatible of all the types of ram I have used. You will be limited to 1333mhz the cpu doesnt support 1600. I think if you have the Dell service code you can check crucial. com to see if they recommend this kit. They may even recommend a different set. I believe there is also a program you can download from the crucial site that recommends mem kits if you don't know enough information.

Will it work with a 2014/2015 iMac 5K?

No. iMacs use laptop memory. This is the right type of memory, but for a desktop. Plus, you need to make sure to get memory that doesn't come with any extras like the metal plates included with this one.

I just looked at the motherboard page here on newegg.
and it says it supports 4x 240 pin DDR3 1600 which is what this RAM is.  So yes, it should work.

this ram is 2x 240pin DDR3 1600 (2 sticks of 4gig)

the Mobo supports up to 4 sticks and 32GB total.

Will this RAM work in a Dell OptiPlex 380 desktop computer?

I would check the crucial site to be sure, since they guarantee what fits what. If the Optiplex 380 uses a 240 pin ddr3 1600 though, it should. but check with crucial or dell first. I can't say yes and be sure, not sure what the 380 uses.

Ya they should be fine as long as the motherboard support 1600 ram. And despite the band reviews about this ram I have not seen any problems with my 5 months of use and plan on using it again.

no these are DIMM(desktop memory) mini uses SO-DIMM(laptop memory) to save space sorry.

Some of the reviewers mentioned having difficulty getting this to post on the AM3+ socket.

Can anyone confirm or deny if this RAM is not compatible with AM3+ sockets? More specficlly this board:

AM3+ MB definitely.  Using ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 with AMD Vishera AM3+FX-4300 CPU.  No problems.  Wish I had more RAM I guess now that I've a bigger video card and running full 64-bit mode OS/games.
