The answer to that question is not an immediate yes, or no. I would recommend going to the laptop manufacturer's website and downloaded the computer's technical specifications/documentation. Some manufacturer's require different memory timing, and if it is error correcting or non-error correcting. Most laptops use 1333 Mhz, however, 1600 is also not uncommon.

If the manufacturer requires 1333 Mhz, non-error correcting memory, the Crucial will work just fine.

Finally, (don't ask me why) some manufacturer's actually limited the amount of memory that could be installed on the motherboard slots. So...ensure that the manufacturer allows 8 GB.

Is this compatible with a mid 2009 15" Macbook Pro with 2.57 Ghz Core Duo?  Current ram is 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3.

Your machine takes DDR3 1066 (PC3-8500) 1067MHz memory modules.  Your machine should accept a max of 8GB.  While this memory you're inquiring about may fit in the socket, I don't think it will "clock down" and run at the slower speed. Just search Newegg for the pc3-8500 8GB laptop kit.

I used these in my NUC and Yes it will based from the intel spec sheet on your model.

Go to crucial dot com to verify compatibility with your laptop.  They have two ways to check - an app that will automatically scan/check your system, or you can manually search using your model number/brands.  (The choice is yours)

By the way, the Crucial memory is excellent, and of course you cannot beat Newegg for customer satisfaction!

Your MacBook Pro model use the following memory specs (DDR-3 1333Mhz/PC3-10600 @ 1.35v) and you can have a max of 16GB (2x8GB).

This memory should work fine but I would suggest going with the 1333Mhz/PC3-10600 version of this memory to be safe. I have run into some MacBook Pros not wanting to use higher spec memory.
