Does this come with a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter tray to install in my case?

This particular one does NOT come w a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter if your case does not have a tray that will fit both sizes you will have to purchase a seperate adapter most new cases have trays that will fit both. Hope this helps

Does the unit come with transfer software and cable ?  Crucial site says that they do .

The unit I got DID come with an online key for transfer software. It did not come with any cables. The software was very easy to use and was quick to install. The drive is working flawlessly so far and has greatly speeded up my boot up times and program load times. I just wish I had gotten the next size up!. Hope this gives you the ibfo you need.

Question 3

With HDD's, if it's advertised as "100GB" you might actually get, say, 92-95GB of actual usable space.  How much usable memory can I expect of a 256GB SDD?

This kind of thing is mostly because of the difference in gigabytes and gibibytes. Windows reports drives in gibibytes (i.e. 1024 "kilobytes" in a gibibyte) while manufacturuers give gigabytes (i.e. 1000 kilobytes in a gigabyte). That's why, for example, Tong B above got 119 GB according to windows.

Would this drive fit a Dell D630 laptop?

Don't know for sure but I would say probably not It is too thick for a laptop. Almost all ssd's for laptops will specify "notebook hard drive" or something similar check out norebook hard drives under ssd's and I am sure you will find something suitable. Hope this helps you

Will this unit fit in and function with a Dell Inspiron N7010?  Is this unit compatible with a computer that was manufactured in 2010?  I am more interested in speed than size.

I installed this drive in a Dell i3531-1200BK. It gave it more speed and pulled a little less power. I see no reason why it should not work. Just a warning, you are going from a larger drive to a smaller one. You will need a good imaging software to do that.

Will this fit into a laptop?  Dell inspiron 15 , 3000 series.

Yes it's a 7mm drive and will fit slimline laptops but if older laptop that has 9mm bay may need some some kind of non conductive foam or case to prevent loose fitting but most laptops in the last 3 years fit 7mm drives no problem.

Is this SSD backward-compatible with SATA-I (1.5) interfaces?

My Dell 6400 won't recognize the Samsung SSD.

I truly apologize, but I am not sure as I have built an new desktop to use it as the drive holding my OS. I have a Mx100 SSD 512 used as my main HD

I am using SATA 6Gb/s on the ASUS sabertooth mother board. Go to this link and see if your make, model, etc will work.

I would suggest going to the curcial website and look for the mx100 you want and plug in your computer information where it ask..."Will this work with my system"

I want to replace a WD2500BPTV hard drive with a ssd.  The specs say the WD2500 is a 3" with a height of 9.5mm.  Will this unit replce the WD HD?

If you mean "will it fit" in my case the answer is probably yes. (you may need an adapter for your hdd sled if itn does not have 2.5" screw holes. Th footprint is smaller than a mechanical drive by quite a bit but almost all newer cases and drive sleds will accomodate  ssd"s as well as hdd"s. With this brand you can get a larger capacity drive i.e. bigger than 128gb and still keep the same footprint as they do not get thicker/longer as the storage capacity increases until they get to TB size Hope this helps you. I have not had any problems with my ssd since i got it and am looking to get another to increase my storage capacity for os/key programs price is getting better and better for these little gems so dont wait.

Will this work for an e machines EL300G-02W with windows 7??

If yours is a desktop system, you would likely need a 2.5" to 3.5" hard drive adapter to make the drive fit into the system hard drive rack. There should be several available here, and should be inexpensive. The drive does not come with the adapter hardware. Otherwise, it should plug into the system like any other SATA drive as long as you have an available SATA port and power connection from the power supply.
