Does the OEM-Reseller version which is about $70 less than the normal one include the desktop mounting bracket?

Yes it does. All I had to do was attach some rails to the bracket.  I installed this one as my main system drive on a new build that I did last weekend and so far it is running nice.

Will this work for SATA II connection in a macbook pro?

Should work fine. I currently have this drive in my laptop , which is only sata2, but also a PC. Mac and PC use the same hard drives. Sometimes you need the drivers though. Bottom line, you should be fine.

Will this work in a HP ENVY dv7 laptop?

It will, but before you load windows 7. (hopefully that's the OS you will be installing). You must go into the Bios and set the Sata controller to "Raid" that will enable AHCI, which this drive needs in order to operate correctly and at optimal performance.

Side note: when your installing windows and it can't see the SSD/Harddrive. You might need to download the sata raid drivers from HP website and store them on a USB thumb drive and the install process well ask you for them. (just if the install doesn't see the SSD).

I have one in my wife's white MacBook Core 2 Duo and it works great!  VERY FAST compared to the original 5400RPM drive and the battery lasts much longer too.

I have used these drives in Macs as far back as G4's without any issues. You can use Carbon Copy Cloner to copy the HDD contents, then just swap the drives.
