Power cables for SATA drives are packaged with your power supply (separate).  I recommend getting a fully modular Power Supply.

As for the data cables those usually come with motherboard purchase.

is this compatible with Dell Inspiron 5421 14r?

Accepted Answer

Any SSD will work.  The chances are 100% if the original OS was windows 7.  If its windows 8 the key is in the BIOS and would not be worth doing yourself.  Have someone that knows what there doing at a computer repair store do it for you.  Ask them if that is possible.

Question 3

Is this IOPS of 4k read 32xxx correct? it dosen't comare to Toms chart and this link shows a IOPS that is more in line 87xxx? Ideas?

I have checked and verified with Mushkin, I hope newegg clears this up. It seems as though the write speed takes a huge hit with the way the sand force controller is designed.  Basically 32k is correct because the way the controller writes across the NAND and most of the time this will write at 70k~ but in tests it shows as low as 32K because they only implemented 1 SF controller and not more to handle the extra NAND flash memory.  I am by no means an expert but i wondered the same thing so I am attempted to convey my findings and i hope this helps.

Is 480 GB compatible with Mac Pro 3,1?

Not sure what you mean by "compatible".  It won't work as an internal drive but it should work fine as an external drive as long as you get the appropriate enclosure.

Question 5

Why is the IOPS on the 480GB model (32K ) so much lower then the other models (85K-87K)?

I have a hyper-v server with SSD boot and 4 300GB raptors in RAID 10 and I'm thinking about upgrading. I'd like to replace them all with one 480GB drive.  I suppose I could do 2-4 240GB drives but I don't know if my onboard controller could really handle that anyways.

It has a very poor sand force controller and it also usually dies in 6-9 days. I'm on my 3rd with RMA's and am done with this product.  Mushkin is a great or use to be a great brand but I'd recommend paying a little more and not dealing with the headache that this hard drive brings.
