Question 1

How do I set up this drive to be the boot up drive in an ASUS Crossblade Ranger FM2+ MB. I will do a fresh install of OS Win 7 Ult. 64bit. Will the Win 7 OS recognize the drive for installation ? I'm very experienced in builds and setup, just no experience with SSD ! Thanks for any one's help !

This drive is really like any other and will be picked up by your BIOS/UEFI as soon as you install it and reboot. If you're familiar with how to do a clean install on a mechanical hard drive, you'll do fine with this. Windows 7 and later are great with these and will handle them intelligently.  The big thing is to trust, but verify that the OS is treating the SSD as an SSD, because if it thinks that it is a mechanical, it can severely shorten the life of your new drive. There are some really helpful guides with a quick google search as to how you do that. If I recall, it was a painless process once I was up and running and took less than 5 minutes.
One last thing to consider: IF your motherboard and other components are UEFI ready, a fresh install of Windows 7 is the perfect time to make the switch. Again, google is your friend, but when I did my switch over from BIOS to UEFI, I saw a significant speedup in Power-to-Desktop times. Good luck, and god speed. Or, you know, SSD speed.

Will this work in a HP Pavilion DV8000 laptop?

It's a standard size laptop drive, so it should fit fine. However, I don't know what version of SATA is in the DV8000. If it's SATA 1 or 2, the SSD will work, but it will be somewhat slower than if it had SATA 3.

It will work on any computer that has original 2.5"micro SATA drive installed (not to be confused with mSATA) and interface plug. Please verify your original hardware configuration.

Since the DVD drive is based on SATA; it would be fair to expect the HDD to be as well. Fastest way to check; look at your current drive; is it 2.5: does it have SATA as the connector.
