I was told to get 4 1GB (F2-5300PHU1-1GBNT). If I get 2 of these, would it be the same thing?

Hi Brenda - if you purchase two of the G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-5300PHU2-2GBNT it would indeed be the same thing; however these are paired memory. When you install them you want to install them in the paired slots - you're motherboard manual should be able to explain this further or just google Dual Channel Memory. I hope this helps!

Can I install these in a Hewlett Packard desk top that came with 8.00GB installed memory ram? In reading all the questions it looks like these might be for a dell?

It makes no difference what the brand of the computer is.  What matters is what the motherboard is designed for.  You should be able to find the specs using the memory finder at Newegg, HP or several other sources.

have a dell 8400 9 yrs old want to swap out 2 512 for 1is this the right size for my computer I have ddr2?

check your service tag number on your computer, then enter it at the Dell support website.  Once you do this it will give you a list of the parts (memory type and specifications) used in your computer.

I did this for my older Dell  computer and matched it to the G.SKILL memory I purchased from NewEgg.  When I received the memory I installed it after removing the old 512 memory modules.

The new memory installed very easy and after a restart to change the BIOS everything worked fine.

is this compatible with a Dell OptiPlex 740?

I checked on the Crucial website and they state the following types will work for an OptiPlex 740:  DDR2 PC2-8500, DDR2 PC2-6400, DDR2 PC2-5300.  So this memory should work.

Question 5

Will these fit in a HP with a memory ram of 8.00GB, 64bit?, I see Dell in all the questions. A friend gave them to me.
