Is ddr2 the same as ddr2 800?

Not all DDR memory is the same, hence the DDR, DDR2, DDR3, etc.  Also, as defined by category of memory, such as DDR2, not all memory is compatible or interchangeable-exchangeable in the DDR2 category.  As cpu processors and memory advance in technology, it could be understood as: out-with-the-old, in-with-the-new.
DDR2 memory as defined by category (like all memory types), memory speed is always being advanced.  As motherboards (MB) are designed, they are built to suit existing processors and memory of the time.
Now to your question: Your MB was built for a specific cpu/memory speed & type.  The MB specifications (by the MB’s model#) will indicate what memory type and speed is suited specifically for it (i.e., 240-Pin DDR2 800, PC2 6400).  In regards to memory speed, there typically are two type of speeds that allow us end-users to know which memory to buy.  Those being:  DD2 800 or PC2 6400 or both.  Your MB specs may also provide a range of compatible memory speeds, so it is key to identify on you MB the specs which memory range is compatible, also the maximum memory allowed described by the MB.  Find the best speed for the price- bang for buck.  Also, make sure you do not exceed your # of memory slots on your MB.  Some MB’s only have 2, 240-pin memory slots.  There could also be 4, 6, or up to 8 again dependent on your MB specs.
Lastly, your operating system (OS) dependent on the OS configuration- a 32bit install will only recognize up to 4GB installed.  A 64-bit OS install will recognize all memory installed on the MB.  Most new MB bios are set for auto config, but tweaking the bios could be necessary as well for proper configuration for your newly installed memory.

I recommend going to the memory manufacturer's website and confirming, but I have a hunch that it is not.
