Question 1

Why does it say only supported channel = Quad Channel, when on the G.Skill webpage it says Dual/Quad Channel?

The reason I ask is I am running the asus p8z77-v lk mobo with my intel i5-3570k O.C. @ 4.2Ghz, and this mobo is dual channel so I want to reassure this channel description will be compatible with my setup!

These products that are sold as dual, triple, and quad channel sets have simply been tested to work in those setups.
Technically any matching memory sticks (size, speed, specs) will work in a multi-channel setup.

tl;dr Dual and triple channel are a subset of quad channel, so these sticks will work in those setups as well.

I’m building a computer system. It’s hard to tell which memory will be faster considering frequency and timing.

Hello Travis,
To me, obviously the DDr3 1866 would be the faster memory. on the other hand I do not know without benchmark tests that you could actually tell the difference between the two memories in everyday computing. Maybe if you were gaming or doing photo,video work you could tell, but I have computers with 1866 and 1600 memory (32 gb) and I cannot tell the difference. The most intense computing I would do with either memory is working and putting together photos. Even with these memories I am waiting at times for the photos to come together and/or print. Hopefully this helps.

How would you tweak the ram for optimization if i drop these in an ASRock Z87 OC/AC board (4th GEN Haswell) since xmp is only supported for Gen2 & 3?

Hi Speed computer memory chips have to be overclocked in all computers.  When you install the memory chips, the computer BIOS set up will inform you of the current speed.  Then you apply setting in order to overclock the chips.  The BIOS software is provided by the manufacturer of the computer motherboard.  In most cases, the process is automated; this allows you to choose overclock settings and apply them instead of having to set a value for each parameter.  How that is accomplished by you would depend upon how the motherboard's manufacturer designed the overclocking software.

I looked up the recommended memory on the Gigabyte web site for the main board I chose and this brand was listed as compatible as well as other brands. The memory has proven to be awesome, but you would do well to look at the Asus web site to see what memory is recommended for your particular main board.

Is this set of ram compatible with LGA 1150 Mobo's?

I'm using mine in an ASUS Z87-WS with no problems.

Make sure to enable XMS to get full use of this Great  Memory.

Is there any kit that has the same specs but with a different color scheme? I would love to go for a G.Skill kit for my new build, but this will stick out badly against the other components.

G. Skill has other memory kits available and the color is different.  I had a reason for picking out this memory - because it is memory that appears on the memory compatibility list that is published by  my motherboard maker, Asus.  Other memory modules will fit my motherboard so I'm sure you can find something that will also work for your aesthetic purpose.  As you know, these memory chips are metallic blue.  Keep in mind that you want to buy a full-matched set of memory as opposed to buying two-sets of two chips each.
