I would thinks that this memory would be compatible with windows 8.1. At the time I bought mine was running Windows 7 and have since upgraded to Windows 10 with no problems.

But, you may want to make sure they are compatible with your motherboard before purchasing. I would think they are but you may want to make sure.

This is not compatible with a laptop. You will need SO-DIMM ram for the MacBook pro. As for the difference, not much of a difference except for price and brand recognition. For me corsair is a more reputable brand in terms of reliability and performance.

these boards and cosair vengance ram were designed to be overclocked 
why are you going with the lower end bus speed of 1600. corsair is quality ram I'd go with 2400, incidentally any DDR3 SDRAM is compatible with this board; furthermore corsair offers this same product in gold to match your motherboards color theme. Shop the site a little more for corsair vengeance color themes and google overclocking the ram on a ASUS Z87-A LGA 1150. I've never heard of anyone having an issue with at least boosting up to 1866MHz

I can't say if it would fit, but there is a large usability difference between 4 and 16GB of RAM. In fact, I'd say that 16GB is the base amount of RAM every SSD-based PC should use.

In practice, you will be able to have so many Chrome tabs open that you can't even see the favicon, whatever game you're playing can be running on one screen while you're streaming video on another screen and you'll never need to close Outlook or Excel. And you'll only be at 10GB used... so assuming the RAM is physically compatible you will be able to throw a lot more work at your PC.

If you didn't have an SSD, the hard drive would be totally unable to keep up with all this stuff, and your PC would fall over.

**note that the RAM quantities we're talking about are valid in 2015; if you're reading this from a time machine 5 years from now you'll want more :)

You should be fine with this set. As far as I can tell they're the same memory chips with a different looking heat spreader on the outside. If you're really concerned you could contact Corsair directly and they'd be able to tell you.

You're looking in a good place to remedy the problem, although you may want to look in Task Manager and confirm that physical memory is your issue. I am a former Dell IT employee and can confirm that this DDR3 memory is compatible with that motherboard. Another place to look is possibly imaging the HDD onto a SSD so the programs load faster. This is optional and not necessary. Also, a free and quick option is to run two programs: RKill and Malwarebytes, in that order. They will kill unnecessary background processes and help optimize memory allocation. Try those and see if the speed increases. Adding memory will allow you to run more programs at once, but you will want to make sure that memory is your bottleneck before doing so.

I had a lot of trouble ascertaining MB and memory compatibility  from the lists referenced starting with the memory itself even though my MB an ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0  is also an Asus product. When I referenced compatibility  with the MB things as a  starting point the listings were a lot more up to date, more extensive and much clearer and easier to use.  I'd start with the your MB manufacturer's listing which, if it was like mine will have sections on compatibility with every sort of hardware involved in a build in addition to the memory sticks.
