You need to reference the motherboard specs and make sure that you are buying the correct ram.  Ram comes in DDR2 and DDR3 (the most current ones)  Make sure you are buying DDR2 or DDR3 based one what your motherboard can handle.  DDR3 is the current and fastest.  There is also a MHz speed for the ram.  Check to see what speed the mobo can handle also.  I usually look for name brand to insure quality.  Kingston, pny, crucial are all good brands.  Others might work but these are my favorites.  PS I build computers all the time.

Will this memory work in a HP Pavilion p6716f-b?  I ordered it thinking it would work but I just received it and noticed on the package it says "UDIMM".  I didn't see that in the description.  Please help me.  I have not opened the package yet.

     Thank you for your reply.  I am a techie and I cannot answer my own question.  I was hoping that Newegg would consult the manufacturer to find the answer for me.  I guess I will have to contact the manufacturer myself to get this answered.  Thank you so much for your time.

will this work with motherboard gigabyte GA-G41MT-S2 ?

The GA-G41MT-S2 specs says it will accept OC(1066) and the front side buss operates at 1333MHz... my guess is 1333 DDR3 will work fine... but don't expect to OC the 1333 to something faster... the buss won't support doing so.

Probably not the sort of solid, "I've done it, it worked great..." kind of endorsement you're looking for but given the G41 technology is a bit dated, I hope you appreciate our conservative, albeit honest answer. Alternatively, you might want to "Play it Safe" and order the 1066 DDR3 and overclock it - as the G41 specification indicates is "permissible."

Our use of the G41 MB was relegated to (in the past) building PC based video servers who's analog capture card required specific Intel north/south bridge chip sets. We're not really in the business of pushing hardware to it's limits but rather building our systems so that within the limits of the hardware, the machine is operating at something in the 30-50% of capacity range. We've long since moved away from analog CCTV servers and today build IP Video servers which are far less sensitive to incompatibility hardware issues.

Intel H57 Chipset?

If you know the motherboard you want, look it up on newegg, and view the specs, under there should be the compatible memory speeds and specs. To be honest, the chipset wont tell you as much as the exact motherboard model number. Also if you download the manual they will tell you how many slots, max speeds, and maximum sizes (total and each slot). This is the best way to match up memory per motherboard. versus just the chipset. a good example, is that a chipset might support ddr3, up to speeds of 1600mhz and sizes of 32gb total, but the cheap motherboard has support for ddr3, but only speeds of 1333mhz, and only has two slots, that can only take 4gb chips. so your stuck with 8gb instead of the full 32.
