Question 1

I bought this memory as an upgrade for my HP-6450b from 4 gig to 8 gig.  However, after installing during the boot up it stops during the Windows Logo?  Any suggestions? Original memory is 4 gig of (2) 2GB DDR3 1333 -10600S.  Compatibility issue?

There can be a number of reasons why that could be.  First when you hit Esc button on boot up, be sure in your bios your ram is recognized.  Sometimes you get bad memory chips, rare but it happens.

If you want, swap the chips in the different ram chip bays, sometimes that tricks the laptop.

According to the official HP specs the memory you bought -should- work.  However some brands don't play nice with other certain brands.  Officially this is what HP suggests: [4GB, PC3-10600, shared DDR3-1333 MHz SDRAM Small Outline Dual In-Line Memory Module (SODIMM)]

I assume if you put your original memory back in the laptop it will boot to windows again?  That will be a surefire way to tell if its the memory that is bad.

I'll be honest with you, this memory I got was the cheapest at the time for my fathers laptop.  So there is a possibility you may have to return these chips and get another type.  I would suggest one of the more popular brands to be safe.

Question 2

I'd like to know if this memory is compatible with our new HP laptop - 2000-2d11dx - I would switch out the 1x4gb of memory it came with and put in new matched 2x4gb?

it's probably compatible. you could double check by visiting crucial dot com's website and using their scanner to determine compatible memory. if it is compatible, you might not need to buy 2 new ones - one 1x4gb that's similar to the one you have would suffice.
