* Requires overclocking/BIOS adjustments. Maximum speed and performance depends on system components, including motherboard and CPU.
Ripjaws S5 is a performance DDR5 DRAM memory series designed for compatible Intel platforms, featuring a simple and clean design in matte black or matte white, and a low-profile module height at 33mm.
- 33mm Low Profile Module Height
- Intel XMP 3.0 Memory Overclock Profile Support
- Do not mix memory kits. Memory kits are sold in matched kits that are designed to run together as a set. Mixing memory kits will result in stability issues or system failure.
- Prior to enabling XMP, memory kits will boot at the SPD speed at default BIOS settings with compatible hardware.
- For memory kits with XMP, enable XMP profile in BIOS to reach up to the rated potential XMP overclock speed of the memory kit, subject to the use of compatible hardware. Enabling XMP is an act of overclocking and requires BIOS setting adjustments.
- Reaching the rated XMP overclock speed and system stability will depend on the compatibility and capability of the motherboard and CPU used.
- Usage in any manner inconsistent with manufacturer specifications, warnings, designs, or recommendations will result in lower speeds, system instability, or damage to the system or its components.

The G.SKILL Ripjaws S5 F5-6400J3644F64GX2-RS5K is a 128GB (2 x 64GB) DDR5-6400 desktop memory kit with CL36 timings and Intel XMP 3.0, suited to high-performance or gaming PCs with a compatible DDR5-enabled Intel platform.
Recommended For
- Desktop users running several virtual machines, containers, or local development environments who need memory for multiple workloads at once; the 128GB capacity is more relevant here than for a routine gaming build.
- Video, photo, or 3D creators working with large projects while keeping other applications open, when their current workload regularly runs short of memory.
- Intel desktop builders who need 128GB in two DIMMs and want an XMP 3.0 kit, while checking that their motherboard BIOS supports 64GB modules and that the board lists the kit as compatible.
- Builders with tight CPU-cooler or case clearance who need high-capacity desktop memory; G.SKILL lists the Ripjaws S5 module height as 33mm.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- When editing 6K footage in DaVinci Resolve, the 128GB capacity meets Puget Systems’ listed minimum RAM recommendation for 6K projects, leaving room for the editor and project data to fit in memory; performance still depends on the rest of the workstation.
- When working in After Effects with 4K-or-higher projects, the extra capacity can help keep demanding compositions and other open applications in memory; Puget Systems recommends 128GB for this kind of higher-resolution workflow.
- When running several virtual machines for software testing or a home lab, the host can allocate more memory across the guests while retaining memory for its own operating system; the practical limit depends on each VM’s assigned memory and workload.
- When developing a large Unreal Engine project, with the editor, shader compilation, and other tools open together, 128GB may provide useful headroom for unusually large worlds or shared project caches; smaller projects may not need this much memory.
