What do the connection cables for this 2 TB G RAID Drive look like?
My USB format on the box states USB 2.0. I only have the 400 and 800 cables, not the USB 2.0.

I bought one of these because the IT group where I work decided that it was the best way to back up my data on my MAC Desk Top. Since I had no back up for my MAC Pro Book Laptop at home, I purchased this one and connected it. Both apple devices acknowledged on screen that the G-Drive was connected and backing up data. Neither computer has ever malfunctioned to the point where I had to retrieve data from the G-Drive but I am confident that they are working because when I took my laptop to the apple store for a minor problem the first thing they asked was whether the data was backed up. When I mentioned that it was always connected to the G-Drive, they seemed very satisfied.

Question 2

We are planning to purchase a new MAC soon.  We just purchased a 1TB G drive mobile USB portable Drive and wish to copy everything on to this back-up prior to our buying the new MAC.  What is the procedure for doing this safely?

You can use Time Machine to capture everything, and then when asked if you want to migrate your settings and information on the new Mac, say 'Yes' and point your new machine at the Time Machine drive. Otherwise, after this point (initial startup), the new Mac running Mavericks will not recognize Time Machine from an older Mac running Snow Leopard. Or just connect an ethernet cable from the old to the new Mac and copy files/folders using Finder (from the new Mac).

What cables do you use to connect this 2 TB G Raid Dual Processor Drive to a Mac Book Pro 10.6.8? I bought this from a friend and the
2 cables that came in the box don't work with my MAC Book Pro.

what is the size of the cache?

The specifications on the G-Technology site say "Cache: up to 64MB".  Perhaps it depends on the generation of the device or specific hard drive manufacturer used under the cover. .
