Is this drive 4tb W a RAID configuration or is it only 2tb with a RAID config?

All HDs everywhere are quoted as if they are just a bunch of disks. 
The unit is 2x2tb. Or 2 tb of useful space.

Question 2

How is small file transfer ? (i.e. large GB folders of photos, documents, mp3's) My Usb3.0 passport is pretty fast with large files but slow (20-40) with small files.

I previously used USB 3.0 external drives.

This drive is significantly faster when transferring all file types of various sizes.

Unrelated, my only "complaints" are that it does not have built in password protection and it is not easy to use software encryption.

Will this work with a MAC or PC?

Thunderbolt works for both PC and MAC equipped with thunderbolt capable ports.

Will this work with Mac leopard or linux?

I would not expect this drive to work on a Mac that doesn't have a Thunderbolt port, or one that is running a 32bit version of OS X (Snow Leopard and previous).

Is there an adapter available for a PC?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A PC desktop or laptop that has a Thunderbolt port OR an open "slot" for a Thunderbolt card could use this drive. However, I would not expect it to work with a 32bit version of any OS.
