How wide is the wrist rest portion of this keyboard? It looks very narrow since it's built into the body, but hope at least a few inches are offered. It's pain using another wrist rest with these slanting curve designs ones because it will never sit flush against it. Hope this one offers enough space to avoid that issue.

That "wrist rest portion" from the bottom of the space bar to the desk is 36mm (1.5 inches) measured from above.

This is exactly the same as my previous Logitech G15 keyboard but less than the 70mm of an ergonomic keyboard.

The only difference I noticed in my hands when using this is that it took a few days to train my left thumb not to rest on the space bar (which can send repeat space characters without necessarily making the click noise.)

How long is the cord for this keyboard? Also, is there anyway to make it wireless? I'm having a really hard time finding a wireless mech keyboard.

I measure 6.5 feet from the end of the usb to the keyboard itself.

You could buy this and a two usb extension cables. You need a second extension cable for the side usb (mouse).

This keyboard is 3 pounds which might be heavy for lap use.

If you want a keyboard with a different color, I would highly recommend the Logitech G510 (NewEgg item #N82E16823126323). I have had mine for over a year and it is a fantastic keyboard for gaming and work, with built-in profiles for games...and you can set the backlit keys to ANY color you can create in the built-in color palette (I have red for gaming and blue for working). It really is the best KB out there IMHO, and half the price of this one.

The BW Ultimate uses Cherry MX Blue switches. Razer also offers the Stealth edition on their website exclusively, which uses the much quieter Cherry MX Brown switches
